The new Firebird-I is one of the coolest looking guitars we've seen in a long time. Its a single pickup beast that was designed in collaboration with Joe Bonamassa.
No Frills, No fuss
Having just a single bridge pickup in a guitar means you can spend more time firing up those blues licks and less time fiddling with tricky switches. It's equipped with Epiphones new ProBucker FB720 pickup to get you as close to the original vintage 60s tone as possible. Epiphone designed this pickup with the 60s Firebird in mind. It will just make your Blues/Rock that much more authentic.
The guitar also features a wrap-around hardtail bridge for increased sustain and resonance! Having the strings mounted on the body like that will cause the guitar to practically sing in your hands.
Everything in this guitar is designed to increase sustain and resonance, as those are all important qualities that Bonamassa would look for. The thru-neck construction means the guitars neck runs all the way through the body. Because there is no separation between neck and body, the sound can travel from neck to body seamlessly. It will allow you to produce those sweet singing bends.
The neck through is made of 9-ply mahogany and walnut to increase the stabilty. A single piece of wood is very susceptible to climate changes, but 9-Ply will be very sturdy.
The 2 wings on either side complete the construction made out of solid mahogany.
