The Chapman ML1 is back and in a new stylish satin black finish lifted straight from the ML3-RC. This is the same as the standard ML1 just with a cool new finish so that means it has the same amazing quality, great feel and excellent value for money. What makes this guitar and in fact every Chapman Guitar different is that they have been designed by the community.

The Idea

When Chapman guitars first came about the idea was to make a guitar that was designed with Rob Chapman and over 5000 of his fans. This meant it was less of a signature guitar for Rob and more a guitar for the community. The idea everyone agreed on is that the ML1 would become a blank canvas for you to then build upon. Focusing on the quality of the woods and build of the instrument rather than the bells and whistles inside meant that the guitar you got out of the box is a pro level guitar for not a lot of money.

The Build

Part of making this a blank canvas is making sure it works for a wide range of different styles. The ML1 does this perfectly by having a contoured 'S' style body made from solid mahogany, a medium sized maple neck topped with an ebony fret board and extra jumbo frets. Although like Rob this guitars heart sits in the hard rock realm there is no reason you couldn't use this guitar for any style of music.

The versatility of this guitar even goes into the pickups used. With a Chapman Guitarnivore humbucker and 2x Extreme Victory single coil pickups you have a wide range of sounds that can take you from hard and heavy to smooth cleans in an instant.

History of Chapman Guitars

Back in 2009 Rob Chapman came up with the idea of collaboratively designing a guitar with his YouTube fans - over 5000 fans took part in a series of votes to decide on body style, neck profile, headstock shape, pickups and colours, and the original ML-1 was born. Originally made in China & sold as a limited edition one of run in matt black, the ML-1 sold out within 2-3 months & left 100s of fans disappointed that they didn't get one. In 2010 Rob underwent the same process to design the ML-2 - a single cut, double humbucker guitar that again sold out within 2-3 weeks of arrival. In 2012 Rob decided to take the Chapman guitar brand up market, and moved the production to Korea. The new factory introduced some new features, improved the build quality, and added new colours to the original ML designs. Whilst the "Professional/Affordable" essence of the original ML guitars still shines through, we think you'll all agree that the new ML-1 & ML-2 guitars are a significant improvement on the original designs.
