Here's what Epiphone say about the Les Paul Plustop Pro

Out of all of Les Paul's many achievements; inventor, guitarist, and hit recording artist, Les is most beloved among musicians for inspiring the Les Paul Standard, one of the most sought-after guitars in the world. And now, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO gives the legend a fresh start with ProBucker-2 and ProBucker-3 pickups with coil-tapping, a AAA flame maple veneer top, and beautiful new color finishes including Honeyburst (inspired by late '50s vintage Les Pauls), Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Trans Blue, Vintage Sunburst and Wine Red.

Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the first solid body electric guitars, better known as "The Log." Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar that would "sustain for days" and in the late '50s, the historic Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan produced the "sunburst" Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the "PAF" humbucker.

Players like Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and countless others get their signature sound from a "sunburst" Les Paul and now Epiphone gives you a chance to experience that one-of-a-kind tone at an affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO. The Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features Pro-Bucker "PAF"-style pickups with coil-tapping, new colors and a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top for a vintage look with all the modern appointments that players expect from Epiphone.

Like every Epiphone, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features a Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service. Be a part of history today with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO.

Needs adjusting cos factory setup is a big joke but after all great guitar...

Amazing value for Gibson Les Paul lookalike. Purists and top class musicians can argue over the difference but for beginner and intermediate this model is brilliant

Mr Tomasz Wojciechowski7th Jan 2019

The guitar is not only beautiful, but it also came very well set up and ready to rock straight out of the box. The finish is fantastic and I love the Pau Ferro fretboard. One of the best things about this axe is the Grover tuners: they are super stable and beat the budget Gibsons (with their Kluson machine heads) hands down! The ProBucker pickups are on the vintagey side and do not go well with higher gain settings - actually they tend to get slightly fizzy and too compressed (at least with my OCD pedal into Vox Nighttrain). However, when you're on the edge of the valve breakup you hear all the sweet tones, say the woody Brothers-in-arms tone...Thumbs up!

I had an Epiphone Standard Les Paul in the same colour over a decade ago and I can say the production has come on leaps and bounds since then. I didn't get on with the previous one due to the thickness of the neck but this version has a new slim profile that is perfect! The humbuckers are okay but I can see me changing them for something with a higher output, sustain too is just okay but again, both of these things are better than its predecessor and great for a £400 guitar! One thing Epiphone still hasn't nailed is the lacquer on the guitar, it's super thick and is really grippy on the neck causing uncomfortable friction between changing positions; a regular mod is to sand it to make the surface reducing friction but we'll see...

Great guitar and well set up

This is an amazing guitar for me as I favour a rich blues rock sound. I've always loved the Les Paul design and this trans blue is just beautiful. The coil split option is a nice touch though and adds a bit more flexibility to this guitar. It's a good weight and feels like a quality made guitar. The humbuckers sound great though my Blackstar and the Grover tuners are doing their job well. Overall a solid guitar with some great improvements on the standard design at a fantastic price
