Product Description

The EastCoast ST2 is the ultimate beginner guitar for almost any style of music. The iconic S-style axe was the second electric guitar ever produced and hundreds of brands have put their own twist on the classic design.

Sound

The ST2 combines two single-coil pickups and a a humbucker pickup - the parts of the guitar that take the sound of the strings and directs it into an amp. Single-coils produce a twangy, bright tone suited to crisp clean sounds and searing solo leads. There are loads of sounds to explore because of the three interchangeable pickups. The Humbucker pickup in the bridge has a bolder, thicker and more aggressive sound, perfectly voiced for rock to give you some extra power. This HSS configuration is extremely versatile, perfect for players who want to play lots of styles of music.

You might be wondering what the protruding handle is coming out of the bridge. This tremolo or 'whammy' bar as it's commonly known, lets you change the note of the string without moving your left hand. You can get extremely creative with the tremolo.

Looks

Almost every guitarist has played or owned an S-style guitar, be it one suited to blues, folk, jazz or metal. The double-cutaway makes it extremely easy to get your left hand up to the highest of the 22 frets. These are the thin metal bars across the fingerboard. The more you have, the more notes you can play.

Considering this East Coast guitar was only a budget friendly ``````ninety nine pounds, it seems to be punching well above it's weight for the money. I checked it over when it arrived and could find no faults with the fit and finish, and it had been set up very nicely by the factory or those nice people at Andertons? Whichever it was, it was very playable straight out of the box thankyou. I made a few small adjustments to get it to my personal liking, which included putting my preferred strings on it, then plugged it into a Fender Mustang Micro headphone amp for a try out. All the electronics worked perfectly, and I got some lovely tones from it straight away. The neck and fretboard are great to play on, and there was absolutely no sharp frets or choking out on any of the frets, which for 99 quid is brilliant! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this East Coast guitar to any beginner to start to learn on, you could do far worse for a lot more money in my oppinion? So if you're looking for a starter guitar, and you have a very small budget, go for one of these East Coasts, they're great! The colours are nice too, mine is metallic purple, but is very subtle, not in your face. Buy one, have some fun!
