About Wharfedale Amps

Wharfedale are well known for being one of the most prominent names in the loudspeaker industry and have a long history in audio reproduction dating back to 1932. To ensure the guitar amps live up to Wharfedale's reputation, they enlisted the expertise of experienced amp designer Steve Grinrod.

Steve Grinrod brings impressive amp design pedigree to Wharfedale having worked with VOX, as well as with Marshall on their classic JCM800 and Silver Jubilee amps.

TCT Range

TCT stands for Twin Channel Tube which as far as names go is pretty self-explanatory - dual channel, all tube amps for that proper valve tone. The TCT range feature a classic British aesthetic, rugged build quality, and some unique features, all in an affordable amp.

Valve Output, Twin Channels

The TCT amps feature EL34 tubes which are known for their recognisably British sound with pronounced mid-range and clear top-end response.

The dual channels are harmonically different in their tonal spectrums and feature a flexible control scheme for shaping your tone. With these versatile controls and distinctive EL34s the TCT can handle tones from clean and clear to classic British crunch to powerful overdrive in one amp.

Power Amp Section

The power amp section has some additional features that really help increase the amount of control you have over your sound. The power amp section allows you to control things like the attack dynamics (presence), depth of speaker inter-reaction, and the amount of feedback for a tighter or looser sound.

The TCT amps also have a few controls that help make it more useful in different applications. The power level switching allows you to rein in some of the output power which comes in handy when you need to play a smaller venue. You can also alter the output phase for guitar/room acoustic response and multi-amp set-ups.

With a wide array of valve tones, built-in digital reverb, a series FX loop, and an included footswitch the TCT range are a lot of amp for not a lot of money.

A lot of amp for not a lot of money! Still trying to get the best out of it - but I will definitely get there. I really wanted this beast for the mix function as I use one clean & one overdrive stack (and there was room for one more amp in my ABC switch) #andertonsmademedoit

If there is one thing better than the smell of warm tubes, it's the sound they make. The TCT100 has lovely, clear tones on the clean channel and heaps of old-school crunch on channel 2. Merging the channels is an entertaining option and gives serious flexibility to your sound. The onboard controls allow for an impressive amount of tone customisation and the 33% power switch allows you to get plenty of substance even at low volumes. It's got very much a 'classic' sound. If you want to produce more modern-sounding distortion through it then you'll probably need to get some pedal action going. Similarly, the built-in reverb goes from the sublime to the ridiculous, but to my ears there's a sweet spot around 11 o'clock. If you're planning to buy for serious gigging or recording then obviously you'll be trying an assortment of amps before parting with your cash. It is definitely worth giving this one a spin. The aesthetics might not be for everybody (I think it looks great) but at 400 quid for head and cab it would be rude not to.

The amp looks amazing and sounds even better, the manual is clear and the sound is perfect. The footswitch looks beautiful and the price was unbelievable.

Great sounding head with a plethora of features and tone control options.

Amazing Value! Bought this for my son. He’s travelling at the moment on hols from Uni so the amp hasn’t had Muse or Frank Turner riffs rammed down its throat. But I tried it out to check all was working, and it sounds pretty good to me! Its provenance seems pretty solid.
