Product Description

David Gilmour is recognized the world over for his revolutionary and incomparable sound which he has used to great effect both with Pink Floyd and as a solo artist. When you hear the tones coming out of his red Strat you are hearing him play his signature EMG Pro Series system, the EMG-DG20. This set utilizes our alnico loaded SA single coils, an EMG-EXG guitar expander for tonal girth and an EMG-SPC presence control to enhance the Strat earthiness, all prewired onto a custom 11-hole pickguard. Drop it in and drop out of this plane of reality, you're going for a ride.

* Package Includes: Prewired to the specifications of each artist utilizing EMG's exclusive solderless Quik-Connect; system. Complete and ready to mount to your guitar.

The EMG DG20 puts David Gilmour's signature sound inside your Strat, with EMG's exclusive solderless Quik-Connect system. Identical to the system in David's red Strat, the EMG DG20 pre-wired pickguard is loaded with EMG's alnico-loaded SA single-coil pickups, an EMG EXG expander for added fatness, and an EMG SPC presence control to enhance the natural Strat tones. If you're looking to add the same unique tones David used both with Pink Floyd and as a solo artist, then drop the EMG DG20 into your Strat!

EMG SA pickups

The EMG SA is an active single coil loaded with an Alnico V bar magnet that provides a vintage Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, with a rich bottom end. With internal shielding and a low impedance preamp, you get virtually noiseless operation at a higher output level so that all the tone makes it to your amp. Additionally, the Alnico V bar magnet allows for the output to remain balanced during string bends, and makes for a playability and reliability that is unrivaled. The creamy mid-range warmth and sublime blues tones are clear, strong and expressive, and allow you to reach from classic and clean, to rowdy and raunchy.

"Strat Presence Control"

The SPC or "Strat Presence Control" is often called the fat control. The original intent of the SPC was to turn the tone of a single-coil pickup into a dual-coil. This is accomplished by boosting the gain in a broad mid-band fashion and reducing the highs. The result is a fatter, louder tone from any single coil pickup, but you can also use it on a humbucking to give you a high output, really fat tone that's great for slide guitar.

EXG Guitar Expander

For flexibility in tone at your fingertips look to the EXG Guitar Expander. The frequency response of the EXG is similar to normal guitar amp equalization. The lows and highs are boosted while the midrange is dipped out. The EXG is great for creating a fuller tone that doesn't get muddy, while keeping it clean and clear, letting your guitar stand out in the mix.

The pickups are awesome but the holes on the pick guard did not line up well with my USA standard strat. I have put average on the value for money because of the screw holes not lining up. I question where they get the scratch guards from. On a plus side the white covers look great in my arctic white strat.
