After the success of the DP51T Tele pickups, Monty’s Guitars and Danish Pete have teamed up once again for a set of signature Strat pickups, the DP63 set! Based on the pickups in Pete’s white “Frankenstrat”, these handwound pickups offer vintage Strat tones, with a Tele twist in the bridge.

Danish Pete Signature Set

Monty’s Guitars used Danish Pete’s Olympic White Strat as the basis for these pickups. While the origins of Pete’s Strat may be a mystery, one thing we do know is that it sounds amazing, and the DP63 set matches that great tone. The neck and middle positions give you that classic vintage Strat tone. Bright, articulate, and rounded, it’s the iconic Strat sound that fits so well in a range of genres from jazz to rock.

For the bridge pickup Pete decided to go in a different direction. As Pete is such a fan of Telecasters he thought he’d bring some of that Tele tone to the Strat. Like a Tele pickup, the bridge pickup in the DP63 set features a plate on the base and has been voiced to give you that bright and twangy Tele tone on a Strat!

When my DP63 arrived I put them into a completely modded Squier SE from 2000 that plays great, but sounds average and I really wasn't impressed with the Monty's. Cause compared to my Fender Alnico 5 PUs there was only a noticable difference with the Bridge PU. Then I put them into an old 70s MIJ Lawsuit Strat of my Dad that got a quatersawn body, highwood saddles, graph-tech nut and medium jumbo frets...and there was the clarity, dynamics and even a little bit of bell in the highs! Great pickups - escpecially the bridge pickup with the baseplate is amazing! Sounds better than the bridge PU of my PRS Silver Sky. Somehow all my Squier needed was a 500k pot and a orange drop. Will switch to a 300k though.

Wow, I have an old Pearl S type guitar with not so great sound. But I really like the neck, obviously I like Pete's tone! It has transformed my guitar. I added a freeway 10 way switch and now have neck en bridge pickup option and some series combinations. Pete Honore and Monty's are a great combination!
