The DiMarzio DP408 Virtual Vintage 54 Pro pickup takes where the original Virtual Vintage line and mixes it with popular Area 58 and Area 61 pickups. Designed to have a warm sound that starts to fatten up with heavier picking that blues rock players will love. Although it was made to be used in the bridge position where it reacts the most to your pick attack, the Virtual Vintage 54 Pro also works great in the neck and bridge positions of bright sounding guitars to get a warmer sound out of your guitar.
A Warm Sound With Great Response
With a warm sound that reacts a lot to your playing style this pickup works great for a wide range of different styles. Play with a soft pick attack and you get smooth and warm clean sounds with quite a natural "woody" sound that lets the sound of tour guitar come through. Increase the strength of your attack and you start to get a much fatter sound that verges on being called compressed. When you combine that with some low to medium gain overdrive you achieve full sounding fat tones that work great in rock and blues.
Here's what DiMarzio say about the Virtual Vintage 54 Pro Pickup
The Virtual Vintage 54 Pro uses the same ground breaking technology as our Area 58 and Area 61 pickups. The Virtual Vintage 54 Pro replaces the Virtual Vintage 54 and VirtuAL 2 middle pickups. It has a warm, smoky sound, fattens up when you pick hard, and has a special grade of Alnico 2 magnet to reduce string pull. Like all of the Virtual Vintage models, it's dead quiet.
