The DiMarzio Area Strat Pickguard replaces your current pickups, controls and pickguard with an all solder less pickguard pre loaded with some incredible Area '58, Area '67 and Area '61 pickups. One of the best mods you can do to most guitars to improve the sound is change out the pickups. Though in most cases this requires you to use a soldering iron to unsolder your current set and connect up your new shiny pickups. DiMarzio's replacement pickguards do all the hard work for you, with no soldering needed this pickup can be installed by anyone with a screwdriver, wire strippers and wire cutters.
The Area '61 in the bridge position on this pickguard has a warm sound reminiscent of the Texas blues sound that was founded on hot single coil pickups from the early 60's. You don't need to worry about noise with these pickups as DiMarzio have pulled out their best tech in these Area pickups to make them completely noiseless without losing any of that classic single coil sound.
In the middle position you will find an Area '67 pickup which is focused on producing a bright and clear sound that you would have found on stages in the late 60's. The Area '67 pickup adds a lot of flavor to your sound and mixes in perfectly with the neck and bridge pickups.
and Responsive Tones.
Designed after one of DiMarzio's favorite single coil pickups from 1958 the Area '58 is a bright pickup with outstanding dynamic response. This dynamic response means that when you pick with a lot of force it starts to push the amp harder and make it come to life, when you pick with a lighter touch or slightly roll back the volume you get a much more mellow sound perfect for smooth backing chords.
Here's what DiMarzio say about the Area Strat Replacement Pickguard
The Area Strat Replacement Pickguard features solderless connectors for easy installation in any guitar with a standard 11-hole pickguard. The pickup configuration for the Area Pickguard is an Area 58 neck / Area 67 middle / Area 61 bridge combination for great vintage sounds with no hum.
The Area '58 offers excellent treble response and dynamics with low magnet-pull and the warm, woody tone of late-50s single-coils.
In the middle position, the Area '67 pushes sounds like the single-coil pickups of the late '60s-bright and very clean, with reduced magnet pull for improved sustain, clarity, and enhanced quack in the 2 and 4 positions.
Finally, the Area '61 in the bridge position brings a steely but warm sound to the table. As with the other two pickups, the Area '61 eliminates hum and features reduced magnet pull.
Combined in the Area Strat Replacement Pickguard, these 3 pickups create a unique and undeniably vintage tone.
