The True Grit pickup series from Bare Knuckle Pickups is made to be a hot blues/hard rock king. If you like your sound heavy but not overly saturated you need to check these out.
Guitar tones have changed over the years. From glassy cleans and soft drives to all out metal saturation. Most pickups fall in to one of those camps, there aren’t many that proudly sit in the middle. This one does.
If you find PAF style pickups a bit too soft and modern metal pickups too hot and overly saturated this hard rock machine is a great choice.
This pickup is a humbucker designed to fit a guitar with a vintage, modern or floyd rose style tremolo system. You may have heard of this being called a ‘trembucker’ or ‘F’ spacing in the past.
To find out if this is the right pickup check your string spacing measurements at the bridge and the nut.
Nearly all guitars will use either ‘Standard’ or ‘F’ spacing. As a rule of thumb fixed bridges are ‘Standard’ and tremolo systems are ‘F’ spaced. This is not always the case though.
Here is how to check.
All of these string spacing measurements are the distance between the first and 6th string.
If your string spacing at the bridge is less than 53mm you need a standard (50mm) humbucker for the bridge. If it is 53mm or greater you will need the F spaced bridge pickup.
If your string spacing at the nut is less than 43mm then you need a standard (50mm) humbucker for the neck position. If it is 43mm or greater you will need the F spaced neck pickup.
