Product Description

Here's what G&L says about the Tribute Series ASAT Deluxe Carved Top:

One look and you know this ASAT is badass. It’s fired up with twin chrome-covered Alnico humbuckers – designed by G&L’s Paul Gagon – mounted in a bound, flame maple-topped mahogany body. This new axe takes the iconic ASAT further into heavy territory while retaining the feel and playability that have made the ASAT a perennial favorite among players.

The ASAT Deluxe Carved Top sports an easy-playing 1-5/8” nut-width neck, a classic C-shaped back and 12” fingerboard radius to make deep bends a breeze. Holding it down on the other end is a G&L Saddle Lock bridge designed by Leo Fender for comfort and singing sustain. The Gagon-designed pickups are split via a push/pull tone pot to offer everything from jangly single-coil tones to gritty blues to scorching leads.

The ASAT Deluxe Carved Top is just what many ASAT fans have been waiting for: an affordable, well-made alternative to the Fullerton-made G&L ASAT Deluxe.

Really well made and nicely finished, great variety of sounds, can’t really gove a rating for durability, but no reason it shouldn’t last. Really surprised how good it is. I would definitely recommend it as an option, I have several “high end” American guitars and this is right up there with them, great player.

The guitar is much better looking than the photos give credit for. It is obviously very well made and finished. The coil tapped humbucker pickups give a wide range of sounds from growly grungy to twangy almost classic telecaster. It is a joy to play.

Been looking for a telecaster style guitar with humbuckers for a while and this seemed to fit the bill. Turned out to be a really nice guitar for the price. The only two small issues I have are that the volume pot doubles as a push/pull coil tap and when it is down in full humbucker mode the bottom of the pot grinds against the body where it hasn't been finished off properly. Also, the high E string is closer to the edge of the fretboard than I would have liked meaning that sloppy fretting with the left hand can cause the string to fall off the edge of the board if you're not careful. Other than that I'm really pleased with the guitar and can see it becoming a regular gigging guitar although I will probably restring it with 9s or 9.5s, as it feels like it comes with 10s. I would put the quality on a par with Fender MIM guitars although the feel and playability was far better than a similar Fender FMT Telecaster that I played on the same day and which was £300 more expensive!
