Gibson Explorer Guitars

The famous Gibson Explorer is known for its iconic body shape, synonymous with both classic rock and metal guitarists. Developed alongside the Flying V back in 1958, the Explorer's unusual shape has been adopted by so many artists both old and new, with Metallica’s James Hetfield being one of the most stand-out advocates.

Made with a large Mahogany body and featuring a set neck and two humbuckers, the Gibson Explorer's signature tone is thick, punchy and sustaining.

Today, you’ll find the Gibson Explorer available in both the Gibson Original Collection and the Gibson Modern Collection. In the Original Collection, you’ll find the explorer in Antique Natural and the 70s Explorer in Classic White. The Original Collection aims to bring back the classic guitars that shaped sound across all generations and genres of music. The Modern Collection includes the B-2 Explorer, which introduces a satin finish and a number of key modern features, keeping the Explorer a great choice for modern players too. Gibson even makes Explorers for lefties too!
