The GFI Clockwork Delay is uber all-in-one stereo delay pedal full of the best delay functionality that you could want from a delay pedal. Not only are there loads of different delays to choose from but you also have the incredibly useful features of tap tempo as well as note sub-divisions (quarter-note, dotted-eight, 8th-note, and 8th-note triplets).

All delays have got natural feeling trails so that when you turn the delay off it'll still trail off naturally rather than a harsh cutoff. If you've used the tap tempo to get into time with the song, then you'll love how naturally the delay sits in the mix.

New GFI Reverb & Delay Pedals. So Good You Can Even Smell The Tone!!

What's new for V3?

  • same footprint as V2
  • new Dual and Diffuse algorithms
  • new Kill-Dry feature.
  • new Expression Pedal / Tap-Tempo input
  • Improved interface and preset system.

Here's what GFI System say about the Clockwork Delay V2:

Concept: Clockwork Delay v.3 offers one standard digital mode plus six variation delay modes : Tape, LoFi, Ambient, and Multi-heads (2 / 3 / 4) delay.

Presets: you can save up to 8 presets, no more knobs tweaking during live performance.

Tap-Tempo: built-in tap-tempo capability with 4 sub-divide options (quarter-note, dotted-eight, 8th-note, and 8th-note triplets).

Stereo I/O: dual inputs and outputs deliver wide stereo impression.

Trail Persistence: as the pedal is bypassed, the delay tail is not abruptly cut off, instead it decays out naturally. The same is true when changing presets (as long as you stay in the same delay mode).

Auto Regen (feedback) Sweep: when you engage this feature, the feedback parameter controlled by the Regen knob is slowly swept to the maximum value, hold it there, and then swept back to the original setting. Used judiciously, this feature can introduce dynamic elements to the soundscape - watch the demo videos to see it in action.

Analog Dry-thru: dry signal is routed through a pure analog path.

Small form factor: the pedal measures 12 x 6.5 (cm) or 4.7 x 2.5 (inch), pretty small for what it has to offer.

Delay Modes:

Standard delay

This is a pristine digital delay with modulation. A touch of tone-shaping is applied to keep the repeats from being ?sterile cold?, while retaining clarity and definition. Maximum delay time is 1000 ms (1 second). Modulation depth is fully adjustable and modulation rate is fixed to slow or medium speed.

(T) a p e

This mode is an emulation of the tape echo system that produces band-limited echoes with a touch of saturation and delay time variation. Param knob is partitioned into 2 regions : the first half gives you the normal stereo and the second half delivers ping-pong stereo. Feedback resonance is fully adjustable within each region (resonance increases as the knob is turned clockwise).

(L) o f i

This variation mode has a special voicing that mimics that of an analog delay. The warm and lush repeats work great to thicken your guitar sound without getting in the way of the dry sound. Maximum delay time is 1000 ms (1 second). Modulation depth is fully adjustable and modulation rate is fixed to slow or medium speed.

(A) m b i e n t

This variation mode blurs the line between delay and reverb. Repeats get more diffuse with each iteration, and as REGEN knob is turned up the echoes wash out into reverb-like ambience.
Param knob controls the type and level of a secondary pitch-shifted voice. The first half of the knob range constitutes Perfect-fifth pitch interval and the second half constitutes Octave interval. The voice level is adjustable within each region (loudness increases as the knob is turned clockwise).

(H2) 2-heads delay

This is a model of tape delay with 2 ?playback heads?. Each input sound event will be played back twice at different delay times, and signals from the playback heads are re-injected into the feedback loop, creating layers of warm and complex multi-tap echoes. 4 choices of head configurations (tap patterns) are accessible through the PARAM knob.

(H3) 3-heads delay

This is a model of tape delay with 3 ?playback heads?. Each input sound event will be played back thrice at different delay times, and signals from the playback heads are re-injected into the feedback loop, creating layers of warm and complex multi-tap echoes. 4 choices of head configurations (tap patterns) are accessible through the PARAM knob.

(H4) 4-heads delay

This is a model of tape delay with 4 ?playback heads?. Each input sound event will be played back 4 times at different delay times, and signals from the playback heads are re-injected into the feedback loop, creating layers of warm and complex multi-tap echoes. 4 choices of head configurations (tap patterns) are accessible through the PARAM knob.
