From blues to funk, surf rock to indie rock, the G&L Doheny can do it all. Now a part of G&L's USA Fullerton Deluxe line, the Doheny presents itself as one of the most versatile and practical offset guitars around, with its low-noise Leo Fender-designed MFD pickups, PTB tone system and smooth Dual-Fulcrum tremolo.
G&L's Doheny features a retro-looking Alder body that offers both excellent comfort and balanced sonics. Its medium weight gives it a reassuring feel, but it is light enough for performance purposes and can be the perfect live workhorse.
The Doheny's bolt-on Maple neck delivers a bright and snappy response, giving notes plenty of bite and upper mid-range vibrancy. If you're looking for an instrument that can easily cut through in a mix, this is more than capable! Featuring G&L's "Modern Classic" neck profile, this guitar provides a comfortable and fast feel that contemporary players will adore, while not alienating traditionalists looking for a nostalgic touch.
Topped with a Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard, this attractive material is adorned with 21 medium jumbo frets. Keeping both modern and old-school camps happy, this fret size allows you to easily add vibrato to lead lines without hindrance.
At the heart of the Doheny is a double-dose of Leo Fender-designed Magnetic Field Design (MFD) single-coil pickups. Using ceramic magnets, these pickups feature individual adjustable pole pieces that allow you to fine-tune the output of each string. MFD pickups have a warm sound with a wide frequency response too, however these jazz-type single-coils still retain the brightness and chime that pickups of this style are known for.
The Doheny features the G&L "Passive Treble and Bass" (PTB) tone circuit. On most guitars, a tone control will cut treble frequencies, which gives you some nice sounds but is fairly limited. The PTB tone circuit, on the other hand, gives you two tone controls that apply to both pickups - one for cutting treble frequencies, and one for cutting bass frequencies. The PTB system thus gives you more precise control over your sound!
The Doheny is equipped with a Leo Fender-designed Dual Fulcrum vibrato that has a smoother action than the traditional six-screw S-type design. On the other end of the guitar is an 100% bone nut too, a traditional material that's regarded for its sustain and tuning stability; useful qualities to have on a vibrato-equipped guitar.
