Product Description

A great set of strings make your guitar sing the way it should. The Elixir Nanoweb 10 - 56 Electric Guitar Strings give you great tone and articulation.

Gauges:

10-13-17-26-36-46-56.

Nanoweb coating permits electric guitar strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings. Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

Elixir Plain Steel Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

In addition to an ultra-thin grunge-resistant tubular coating on the wound strings, Nanowebs now have a revolutionary Anti-Rust plating on the plain strings to extend their life too. Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to five times longer than ordinary strings.

A brief guide to electric strings:

The strings on your electric guitar have a major impact on its sound and playability. The wrong gauge makes playing harder, the guitar feel wrong and can seriously reduce your enjoyment.

Most new guitars come strung with light-gauge strings. For beginning players, that’s probably a good place to start. As you develop and your fingers gain calluses and strength, you may want to gradually move up to heavier strings, depending on the music you play.

Lighter gauge strings:

generally easier to play
allow easier bending of notes and fretting
can break more easily
produce less volume and sustain
prone to cause fret buzzing, especially on guitars with low action
exert less tension on the guitar neck and are a safe choice for vintage guitars

Heavier gauge strings:

are generally harder to play
require more finger pressure to fret and bend notes
produce more volume and sustain
are preferred for low tunings such as drop D
exert more tension on the guitar neck

Common Types of string

extra super light: .008 .010 .015 .021 .030 .038
super light: .009 .011 .016 .024 .032 .042
light: .010 .013 .017 .026 .036 .046
medium: .011 .015 .018 .026 .036 .050
heavy: .012 .016 .020 .032 .042 .054

Keep in mind that changing string gauges may require adjustments to your string height or “action” at the bridge saddles as well as adjustments to the nut and neck. Depending on your skill and the type of guitar you own, this may be better left to a guitar tech.

Got these strings because they're long lasting, sound good and feel good. Only problem with this set is the lowest string .056, which has barely enough tension for low B and not anything lower. But that's on me, I haven't been paying attention when ordering.

Elixir strings are my first and only choice, as I have periods of time in which I don't play my guitar at all, and others when it's basically the only thing I do. The coated strings help me both combat my sweaty hands, and keep my guitar ready to go even if I pick it up after a 2 month break.
