Product Description

The dual-channel, EL84-powered Victory Sheriff 22 valve amp head is all about classic "Plexi"-style British overdrive sounds — neatly housed in a lightweight, portable metal chassis that you can take anywhere!

Blues-rock players will love the mid-'60s feel and response of Input/Volume I, pumping out enough gain to sing but also clean up well off the guitar's volume control. Input/Volume II takes off into hot-rodded '70s and '80s territory and beyond, retaining that classic British "black and gold" sound all the way. A separate speaker output gives you bedroom level cranked tone at just 0.3 watts, making it as good for the home as it is on the road!

Two Footswitchable Channels

Inputs/Volumes I & II are separate footswitchable channels. Volume I has plenty of overdrive on tap if you want it, but with a softer and more "vintage" mid-range focus. Volume II steps forward a decade or two with more available gain, punchier mids and a tighter bottom-end. Want it cleaner? Just roll your guitar's volume back.

Series Effects Loop

A series effects loop is available for effects fans who want to use their modulation and time-based pedals. It's completely out of the circuit when hard bypassed. The Sheriff 22 is a post-phase-inverter master volume amp, so effects can easily overdrive when used in the loop. Victory's advice is to run the mix/output levels on your effects much lower than you would into the front.

Awesome Low-Volume Tones

The Victory Sheriff 22 can handle gigs no problem, but what about playing quietly at home? Instead of a low-power mode, Victory included a separate internal power soak with its own speaker output. Just 0.3 watts means that authenetic cranked tone can be easily attained at bedroom levels.

External Bias Adjustment

The dual EL84 power valves run in fixed bias in the Sheriff 22, so the amp requires rebiasing when you replace output valves. That process is easy, thanks to external measurement points and adjustment. All you need is a multimeter — instructions are in the amp's manual.

Voltage Selector

This selects the correct mains voltage for your territory. So essentially, you can switch the mains voltage from a European 220/240V mode (standard out of the box) to a USA 110V mode — making this amplifier usable almost anyhwere in the world! The mains fuse must always be changed at the same time. Failure to do this will result in either the mains fuse blowing as soon as the amp is turned on, or the amp running with a fuse that is of too higher value to provide adequate safety protection. Generally, the fuse value will double if the mains voltage is halved (i.e. if it's a 0.5A fuse in the UK at 230V, it will needs to be a 1A fuse for the USA at 115V).

Always use the correct rating and type of fuse. Victory amplifiers exclusively use UL-approved 20x5mm glass 'T' or 'Timed' fuses. If you have difficulty acquiring the correct fuses, please contact Victory using service@victoryamps.co.uk. Please refer to a qualified technician before even thinking about moving the voltage selector switch.

I've been playing with a Victory V4 for a couple of months and raving about it to my nephew (blues wonder Toby Lee), so I knew what to expect. OMG it sounds epic.

Great amp. Provides lovely 60s blues/blues rock tones to more overdriven stuff such as 80s rock and metal. Already own a V30mkII, which I've had for a couple of years. This is a different beast and does different things (very, very well) indeed. I am using the same 2x12s with 2x Vintage 30s. I find I need to use no overdrive or boosts to get the tones I want from different guitars (Fender single coils, Gibson P90s and humbuckers). Works well with fuzzes, univibe, phasers. Good for stuff like Cream, Hendrix and other 60s (on channel 1) through to AC/DC. Channel 2 good for likes of early Iron Maiden, etc., even Tom Morello/RATM. Switchable FX loop is a good idea. Works nicely with a bit of reverb from a pedal, but you don't need much. Amp cleans up nicely with volume control on guitar. Quite a lot of tone-shaping via EQ and presence knobs. I haven't tried the low power mode as I run my amps through a UA Ox box.

Great tone at bedroom or band level. Pretty portable and the carry bag is very handy as you can fit in the footswitch, power cable and speaker lead in there. Seems very well built.
