The Catalinbread Castillo is a versatile chorus and vibrato built on the iconic MN3007 bucket brigade chip that offers up a wide range of different chorus and vibrato like sounds. From the depths of the ocean with the chorus tones to classic vibrato sounds that will bring back memories of the 60's and 70's this pedal can handle most of your modulation needs.
One of the best things about this pedal is that considering just how many different sounds you can get the controls are intuitive and simple to get around. The Density control sets the delay line time which is what changes the type of chorus from extremely wet to warm and subtle. The Width simply sets how deep you want the chorus to be. The rate is an odd control to have on a chorus but it is surprisingly useful being able to control the rate of the modulation. Finally the Mix control is what determines the effect, turned down you have luscious yet subtle chorus yet as you turn up further you will get in to true pitch vibrato and warble.
When we say that this pedal is versatile we really do mean it. Chorus and vibrato are extremely similar effects ar heart so it makes sense to put them both into a single pedal. Because this pedal uses such high quality compnents they don't have to limit the controls of how far you can push this pedal any where near as much as you would have to with cheaper parts. At the end of the day more sounds and more control for you is always going to be key to what makes a pedal great and this one is certainly up there.
Here's what Catalinbread say about the Callisto
Bucket Brigade chip at its core. It's interface is simple, intuitive, and provides a multitude of sounds ranging from subtle and shimmer to rotary speaker-like to off-kilter warping/warble sounds.
The Callisto's small size and elegant, versatile feature set make it a great addition to any pedalboard. The Callisto is powered using a 9v negative tip DC power supply or 9V battery, is true bypass, and integrates various highest quality components to achieve the best tonal response possible. Catalinbread utilizes an old school MN3007 bucket brigade chip, just like early chorus pedals, and uses an audiophile Burr Brown OPA2134 chip in the audio path to give the Callisto a natural feel and dynamic playability.
