Product Description

The Les Paul Studio has been a cornerstone of the Gibson catalogue since 1983. A more streamlined version of their flagship Standard model, the Gibson USA Les Paul Studio still provides that iconic LP sound but at a more affordable price-point.

Construction

The Les Paul Studio boasts Gibson’s favoured tonewood combinations; to give you that unmistakable feel and tone. With a Mahogany body, you can expect thick lows and a lively mid-range, with the Maple top adding some fizzy top-end. Weight-relieved using Gibson’s ultra-modern method, this thorough chambering process gives the guitar more resonance and a wider frequency response.

The Studio’s body is joined with a set Mahogany neck, and it is this pairing of woods that gives the Les Paul its renowned never-ending sustain. Adorned with a silky smooth Rosewood fingerboard, you can effortlessly glide up and down the neck, especially with the modern Slim Taper neck profile.

Electronics

The Les Paul is famous for sporting a double-dose of humbuckers, and the Gibson USA Les Paul Studio is no exception. In the bridge position you’ll find the 498T, a powerful high-output pickup that boasts a potent upper mid-range and saturates beautifully with overdrive. The 490R neck humbucker is tamer, with a more vintage character akin to that of a traditional PAF.

Featuring traditional Les Paul circuitry, the Studio’s electronics provide more versatility than some of its older counterparts. With the volume controls having a push-pull function, these allow you to coil-tap the humbuckers, meaning that you can attain convincing single-coil sounds.

Hardware

Gibson’s Aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge provides a stable and solid feel under the picking hand, with its simple and accessible design making it easy to adjust your action or intonation. Combined with an aluminium stopbar, this resonant material only enhances the Les Paul Studio’s sustain even more.

Grover tuners are considered by many as the industry standard, which is why the Studio has been fitted with a set of their high-quality Rotomatic tuners. Giving you precise control of your guitar’s tuning, these will also ensure great stability and reliability over time.

This item was purchased as a special present for a milestone birthday. The guitar arrived well packaged. The guitar itself is drop dead beautifull and i am reliably told the sounds that come out of it are amazing. The guitar came with good documentation and the included gig bag was of high quality. If your looking for an inspirational gift for the musician in the family for a big number birthday this is it.

It's a beautiful instrument, with outstanding tone and a fantastic amount of control for shaping said tone. Having come from a 30-year old Washburn KC40V, the difference was night and day. Yes, the Studio edition doesn't come with the pretty binding of more expensive Les Paul models, but it also doesn't come with the price tag (although it's still not a cheap guitar, by any means)! And it's still got that authentic, warm Les Paul sound. The shorter scale length neck actually makes the guitar a lot easier to play then my KC40V's "Super Strat" neck, and string bends also seem easier. One word of warning! When you first start playing, don't be dismayed if your fingers come away stained! There seems to be some residual treatment on the fretboard that wears down quickly over time, leaving a nice worn look.

Simply love it. One of the best guitars I’ve ever owned. Used Andertons YouTube reviews to help steer me to the Studio.
