Product Description

The Builder's Edition 324ce truly encompasses the Taylor design philosophy. The 324ce features the sustainable Urban Ash tonewood, a refined version of the Grand Auditorium body shape that maximises comfort, innovative V-Class bracing for volume and sustain, as well as Taylor's premier ES2 electronics. Modern, environmentally-conscious design with a warm yet clear tone, the 324ce is truly an impressive piece of craftsmanship.

Builder's Edition

The Builder's Edition collection represents the finest design and craftsmanship available in Taylor's production models. Taylor pays attention to all the details to maximise playability and comfort on their Builder's Edition models. Refined body shapes, V-class bracing, premium tonewoods, silent satin finish and more make the Builder's Edition guitars Taylor's most comfortable and best sounding instruments.

Unique Tonewoods

The 324ce features a new tonewood in the Taylor lineup, Urban Ash. Continuing Taylor's commitment to sustainability, Urban Ash comes from Shamel ash trees that are cut down in southern California's cities and suburbs. These trees would normally go into landfill, however, Taylor are recycling them into tonewoods for guitars instead. Make no mistake, the use of Urban Ash is not simply environmentalism. Andy Powers, Taylor's master designer, was impressed by Urban Ash's properties, believing it to be a premium quality tonewood.

Solid Urban Ash is used for the back and sides of the 324ce and provides a tone similar to high-quality mahogany. Taylor pairs this with a solid mahogany top and the result is a guitar that has a warm tone with an excellent punchy midrange response and deep bass.

Grand Auditorium Body

The Grand Auditorium body shape is a true all-rounder. With its articulate, responsive sound and broad dynamic range, the Grand Auditorium is great for both fingerstyle and strumming alike and can handle any genre you throw at it. The more rounded edges of the Grand Auditorium also make it a more physically comfortable guitar than larger or boxy shapes like jumbos and dreadnoughts.

As this is a Builder's Edition model, Taylor have made some refinements to the Grand Auditorium shape. The 324ce features a bevelled armrest which prevents the body digging into your arm during extended playing sessions. There's also a bevel on the cutaway which allows your hand to roll to the highest frets with ease.

This model features Taylor's innovative V-Class bracing which strikes the balance between volume and sustain, allowing the notes to ring out and last longer. An added benefit is improved intonation as the top vibrates more in tune with strings.

ES2 Electronics

The 324ce features Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup system. Unlike a traditional undersaddle piezo pickup, the ES2 is located behind the bridge with three individually calibrated pickup sensors. The result is a greater dynamic range and less "squashed" sound from your pickup tone. The preamp is simple but effective with just volume, treble and bass controls for shaping your sound. There's also an interior phase switch to help reduce low-frequency feedback. Whether you're performing live into an amp or PA or you're recording into an audio interface the 324ce is ready to plug-in-and-play right out of the box!
