Product Description

The 818e is the most exclusive Grand Orchestra shape in the Taylor Range. Forming part of the reborn flagship 800 series, the 818e is an electro-acoustic with fantastic tone and playability using Taylor's brand new Expression system 2.

The 818 e is made from a Sitka spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides. A new bracing system that is matched to the shape of the guitar gives the sound more warmth and punch. And If you thought the 800 series was great to play before, the latest models are even better.

The original expression system was a collaboration between Taylor and legendary preamp specialist Rupert Neve to create a natural sounding pickup that boosted and enhanced the fantastic natural sound of taylor guitars. This redesigned version gives an even warmer tone whilst managing to be around 25% louder. Other great new additions are the battery life of roughly 40-50 hours, and the new battery compartment which clicks and slides out of the guitar right beside the cable output.

Here's what taylor say about the 818E

Taylor’s Grand Orchestra has proven that a big-bodied guitar can also be responsive and versatile. The 818e showcases rosewood’s rich tonal dimensions in a bold and complex package made even more dynamic with voicing refinements for 2014. For solo performers or scaled down acoustic acts whose guitars do the work of a backing band, the 818e offers a multi-dimensional stage partner. High-end aesthetic details include maple binding and back strip, rosewood top edge trim, rosewood pickguard, mother-of-pearl Element fretboard inlay, smoky ebony fretboard, and Expression System 2 acoustic electronics.
