Product Description

Named after the guitar shop where Taylor Guitars started in 1974, the appropriately titled American Dream series is Taylor’s entry-point for those looking for an American-made, all-solid wood acoustic guitar. Featuring Taylor’s innovative V-Class bracing, Grand Pacific body shape, rich all-solid wood tone, and ES2 electronics; the AD27e’s affordability doesn’t come at the cost of Taylor’s signature sound and craftsmanship.

Grand Pacific Body Shape

The American Dream series utilises Taylor’s Grand Pacific body shape. The Grand Pacific is a modern take on the classic round-shoulder dreadnought that retains the powerful yet warm sound of a dreadnought but with more clarity and note-definition, particularly in the low-end. Great for fingerpicking or strumming, the Grand Pacific body is well-suited to a wide variety of genres. The power of the Grand Pacific also makes it a great companion for singer-songwriters as it has plenty of volume. For added comfort, the body edges are chamfered to prevent them digging into your arm as you play.

V-Class Bracing

The American Dream series also makes use of Taylor’s V-Class bracing. When it comes to bracing an acoustic guitar top there’s usually a trade-off between volume and sustain. Head designer Andy Powers set out to change that with V-Class bracing. With V-Class, the top is flexible in some places and stiff in others so you can get the best of both worlds. The result is a guitar that's loud, has plenty of sustain, and has the added benefit of improved intonation.

All-Solid Wood Body

For a rich and complex tonal character, the American Dream series features an all-solid wood body. The AD27e features solid Sapele back and sides and a solid mahogany top. Mahogany is known for being a warm tonewood with great midrange and bass emphasis for a punchy sound. Sapele has a similar character to mahogany but with more prominent highs. These tonewoods, in combination with the Grand Pacific body shape and V-Class bracing, can handle a wide range of styles but are particularly well-suited to folk and blues styles.

ES2 Electronics

The AD27e features Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup system. Unlike a traditional under-saddle piezo pickup, the ES2 is located behind the bridge with three individually calibrated pickup sensors. The result is a greater dynamic range and less "squashed" sound from your pickup tone. The preamp is simple but effective with just volume, treble and bass controls for shaping your sound. There's also an interior phase switch to help reduce low-frequency feedback. Whether you're performing live into an amp or PA or you're recording into an audio interface the AD27e is ready to plug-in-and-play right out of the box!
