Product Description

The C-1 is Schecter's flagship model, and the new for 2018 SLS Elite model has a number of premium features and refinements to suit the most serious of shredders. With a pair of active Fishman Fluence pickups, a Hipshot hardtail bridge and a gorgeous Antique Fade Burst finish, this guitar truly belongs in the 21st Century with its modern features and classy aesthetics.

Construction:

A swamp ash body gives this guitar a light feel, perfect for long sets where a comfortable and ergonomic guitar is necessary. Giving you a full-bodied sound, this serves as the perfect tonal foundation for the high-output Fishman Fluence pickups, bringing out the best of their qualities. Adorned with a beautiful flamed maple top, this guitar will get plenty of attention on stage!

An 'ultra thin C' neck profile provides further comfort, giving amazing playability that will enable you to play fast runs almost effortlessly. Constructed of a mixture of Maple, Walnut and Padauk tone woods, you can expect a snappy response with plenty of mid-range attack when playing fast intricate riffs or complex solos. The C-1 SLS Elite neck has a high-end look and feel, especially with its elegant binding, and with 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets your fingers will simply fly up and down.

Hardware and Electronics:

The Hipshot hardtail bridge will ensure great tuning stability, especially combined with the Schecter locking tuners. But the most noteworthy feature of this instrument is its dual dose of active Fishman Fluence pickups. Delivering crushing tones when used with high amounts of gain, these pickups boast incredible bite and power, with unbelievable fidelity and clarity. But they aren't built solely for distortion, as with clean tones they sound warm and pure, perfect for softly-picked arpeggios or chords.

The C1 SLS Elite Pro has not been the dream guitar I was led to believe it was. The fret work is poor to average. Anything after the 12th fret... forget about it. I have detected an especially tall 16th fret but its all fairly ropey. The manufacturer simply hasn't levelled them properly. Also the nut is not set correctly. Tuning using open string harmonics is my method with a good tuner. As soon as I hit any fret, the note is approx 10-12 cents flat compared to the open note. This very noticeable when playing an E5 for example with open E and a fretted B. This effect is generally most noticeable on the 4th,5th and 6th strings in the 1-5th fret area. I've never seen fretted notes go flatter once fretted. it's totally weird but somehow Schecter have made that possible. Maybe the end of the fretboard wasn't cut perfectly straight, I don't know yet. Either way, to make this guitar usable, either I or an expert luthier will need to do a full fret level/dress and either adjust the nut or it's angle to the fret board to get this thing to play and sound correct. Also, the nut slots are really poor from the get go. Strings are binding in the slots and the base of the slots are not smooth. The hardware is awesome and the general finish and construction is great. The thing is, anybody can buy a or sell expensive pickups and hardware but making a guitar play and sound right is something they've not managed to do for me. They fell at the most crucial part.
