Product Description

Based in Albany, Oregon; Pettyjohn Electronics pedals "are engineered and built in the USA without compromise or shortcuts" - in their own words. Founded by studio engineer Stephen Pettyjohn, the eponymous company uses analogue components almost exclusively in the design of its stompboxes - for achieving the most traditional and authentic tones possible.

Pettyjohn's ODI pedal tips its hat to the original yellow OD-1 overdrive, but is modernised to add a fresh sonic spin to this iconic dirt circuit. With plenty of headroom, thanks to its doubled 18V internal voltage, the Pettyjohn Electronics ODI has a dynamic character and its streamlined control-set makes it easy to dial-in rich overdrive tones!

Wide Gain Range

The Pettjohn ODI pedal delivers the nostalgic OD-1 low-to-medium gain tones heard on countless records from the last four decades. Its 'Gain' control offers plenty of rich distorted textures, ranging from very subtle "pushed clean" sounds to thick, sustaining overdrive. Paying homage to the original, the ODI's internal gain amp drives an array of specially-orientated diodes - creating tube-like, asymmetrical clipping. Simply put, this overdrive can work harmoniously with practically any guitar amplifier, enhancing its sound for the better!

Unique Power Design

Instead of relying on 9V power, Pettyjohn has designed the ODI to feature their proprietary Core series dual-rail doubling power supply. This can scale from +/-7v to +/-18v, which influences the headroom, tone and feel of the pedal - achieving up to 4 times the headroom of the original! The internal supply achieves this by mirroring whatever input voltage you apply via the external power supply. Experiment with this to find your perfect overdrive sound.

Plenty of Control

The original OD-1 pedal lacked any EQ controls, which was a pretty big shortcoming. Pettyjohn Electronics have rectified this by equipping their ODI pedal with the same active tone controls found on their other Core series pedals. Providing the most sonic variation possible with the simplest of operation, the 'Lows' and 'Highs' knobs allow you to precisely tailor the bass response and treble frequencies to preference.
