Product Description

Mooer's Tone Capture pedal has some unique functionality for guitarists who like a wide range of guitar sounds. As the name suggests, the Tone Capture allows you to sample one guitar and then use that tone on a completely different guitar.

For example, say you mainly play a Les Paul but you'd love to incorporate some strat-y tones into your playing, the Tone Capture allows you to do that without having to switch guitars. You could simply sample a Strat into the Tone Capture and then access those sounds while playing a Les Paul. With just the press of a footswitch you can instantly go from humbucker to more single-coil tones. You can even sample an acoustic guitar if you need to play an acoustic intro to a song before launching into a more electric sound.

The Tone Capture has EQ controls which you can use to sculpt the sampled tone to get a better representation of the sampled guitar or to simply use it as a standalone EQ. There are 7 preset slots to store EQ and sampled guitar sounds so you don't have to constantly re-sample sounds. Additionally the Tone Capture is switchable between true and buffered bypass.

Here's What Mooer Say About the Tone Capture Pedal

The TONE CAPTURE Guitar pedal is based on MOOER’s unique EQ matching technology, TONE CAPTURE. This pedal allows you to capture any guitar’s tone by sampling the unique tonal characteristics of the target guitar. The days of lugging around multiple guitars are over. The Tone Capture Guitar pedal opens up a variety of guitar sounds without the need to carry several guitars. Need 8 bars of acoustic? Don’t want to take your vintage Strat to the gig? You can sample the unique tonal qualities of any of your guitars at home and carry them around with you in the compact TONE CAPTURE guitar pedal!

The results were surprisingly good, after using some acoustic guitars as my samples and then using a cheap single coil guitar to recreate them. It even captured a passable sitar sound. I'm going to build up a good selection of various guitar samples for future use. All in all I'm very pleased with this versatile pedal, it was well worth buying and it's so useful.

After doing what I thought was a pretty ropey capture process, the pedal made my cheap Yamaha sound exactly like my Reverend Spacehawk!

It is surprisingly good. I used a DuoSonic and matched pickups to a Telecaster and a P90 loaded Les Paul. On the bridge humbucker the sound is quite pokey anyway and when I use the 'matched' Les Paul P90 it really has an element of the Les Paul's P90. It is still clearly my DuoSonic but definitely has a different character. The best is using the 'matched' Telecaster matched on the neck pickup. It replaces the DuoSonic chunkiness (which I like) with the classic Tele chimey cutting sound. I love it. This is a great pedal and has a lot versatility. If the two points below were addressed it would be my Number 1 pedal as you could replace at least a couple of others on the pedal board. Drawbacks: you cannot cycle through the 7 sounds with a footswitch which is a real shame. Also, you can accidentally touch the controls with your foot when turning the pedal on and inadvertently put it into edit mode.

You can certainly change between generic guitar sounds easily. A start will not sound exactly like a les paul but certainly gets in the ball park and captured tone can be tweaked with the excellent tone controls before saving. Only down side is its not easy to change between the 7 patches while its on the floor
