Product Description

The Martin SC-13E is arguably the company's most significant release since they created the dreadnought. With its offset cutaway shape and innovative Sure Align neck joint, the SC-13E is a bold new direction in design for the company. The result is a guitar designed for the modern player; wide-open access to the highest frets and a more balanced sound that allows you to play louder and with more gain. From singer-songwriting to experimental styles, the SC-13E represents a truly modern Martin.

Bold New Body Shape

The first thing you notice about the SC-13E is, of course, the offset body shape. With acoustic guitars, cutaways can come at the expense of tone. Offsetting the body of the SC-13E has allowed Martin to create a deeper cutaway while minimising the loss of the full-bodied tone. The body shape, in combination with the koa fine veneer body and solid Sitka spruce top, has a balanced and clear tone that makes it ideal for a wide range of playing styles and genres.

Innovative Sure Align Neck

Turn the SC-13E around and you'll find Martin's new Sure Align neck joint. This innovative version of a bolt-on neck has no bulky neck heel to get in your way. When you pair this neck with the deep cutaway you get upper fret access that's unprecedented on a Martin. The neck itself is Martin's low-profile velocity shape that has a subtle taper to keep your hand comfortable up and down the neck.

Built To Be Plugged-In

With the modern guitarist in mind, the SC-13E is designed to be plugged-in. The built-in Fishman MX-T electronics are a simple plug-in-and-play solution with a discreet, sound-hole mounted preamp featuring a built-in tuner. The balanced sound of SC-13E makes it well-suited to amplification as it allows you to play louder and with more gain before you enter feedback territory - great for those who want to get experimental with pedals and effects.

I just wish these guitars came with an L R Baggs Anthem pickup. I will be swapping out the pick up as it sounds like any other acoustic plugged in. But this guitar is the best playing acoustic I've ever tried. The action is brilliant out of the box. The finish is excellent. It looks beautiful on stage and off. My advice is buy the basic (not special) as the only real difference is the pick-up. (The wood doesn't make much difference when plugged in - which is why you would buy a guitar like this.) Use the money you save to upgrade the pick-up.

Sounds much better than my current acoustic which cost twice as much. Great low action over the whole neck. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this guitar to anyone.

Lovely looking, sounding and feeling guitar. It invites you to pick up and play. Only let down by less than optimal piezo pickup
