Product Description

Here's what Jackson say about the JS Series SC JS22 Monarkh in Trans Purple Burst:

Classic and familiar single-cutaway style melds with powerful sound and Jackson’s illustrious legacy of cutting-edge design and construction for a top-notch guitar. Whether you play with crystal-clear clean tones or thick, heavily saturated distortion, the JS Series Monarkh SC JS22Q easily keeps up with any style you can throw at it. Ideal for modern metal, this instrument is the ultimate complement to your music, as creative as your playing.

The SC JS22Q offers a slightly shorter (24.75") scale length than most of our six-string guitars, and features a poplar body with a beautiful quilt maple top and a bolt-on maple speed neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint. Designed for flexible playing, the 12"-16" compound radius amaranth fingerboard is curved for easy chord playing near the nut, flattening out for playing smoking leads without fear of fretting out during bends. The Jackson compound radius compensated bridge perfectly matches the fingerboard’s radius for accurate string action and spacing while chords stay in tune up and down the entire length of the neck.

Two Jackson high-output humbucking pickups in the bridge and neck positions crank out clear tone with plenty of the girth required for current styles. The pickups’ crisp, clear tone is channeled by a three-way toggle switch along with single tone and volume controls for versatile sound that matches any playing situation, and can cut through a thick mix to highlight your playing.

When you plug in a Jackson, you’re plugging in a legend. For over three decades our guitars have fueled musical revolutions, setting stages ablaze with fiery playing.

Available in Transparent Purple Burst with black hardware, the JS Series Monarkh SC JS22Q is a sterling addition to any guitar collection—both powerful and gorgeous.

I bought this guitar mostly for the looks and it is indeed a stunner. The quilted maple finish just pops in natural lighting. Its one of the only guitars my partner approved of so it's got that going for it! For the price, the guitar plays incredibly well but it does require some setting up as the action comes up very high (at least for my liking). Luckily the bridge is incredibly easy to adjust as are the saddles for adjusting the intonation. The neck is nicely thinned and has an even satin finish which make playing faster easier and comfortable. I have never, personally, gotten on well with the thicker necks of Gibson or Epiphone single-cut style guitars so this Jackson is a great compromise between looks and playability. My main disappointment with this guitar is the quality of the binding around the fingerboard and headstock. There are signs of overspray on from the paintjob on the headstock and poor filing on the edges of the fingerboard which is rough in spots. It's one of those things where once you see it you cannot un-see it. The tuners are a little vague at times but not something you can't push through - no doubt something I will change out in future. Having said that it holds tune pretty well but I would expect so for a guitar without a tremolo system. If you want something that's not going to break the bank and is going to inspire you to pick it up and just play then this is certainly it. Its priced just above what I would consider a "beginner guitar" but would recommend others to consider paying that little bit more for what is a solid guitar they will enjoy for years to come.

Good guitar, it does need a little setting up as there is some "fret sprout" on most frets and the intonation slightly off. This can be done by local guitar tech, I'll do it myself personally. Neck nice and comfortable to play, very slim so will suit a beginner. The pickups sound really good considering price point. I bought this guitar on a whim from colour alone which looks great, the finish is impressive, definitely no regrets.

It's a budget guitar so I wasn't expecting perfection anyway but for the price I paid I'm very pleased. Got it set up at a local store, had the frets polished, and put a set of tens on it. Made all the difference. Picks up are particularly good considering the price range.
