Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer is a nu-metal pioneer. As one of the first mainstream musicians to use a 7-string electric guitar (all the way back in the mid-'90s), Munky has blazed a trail for today's generation and popularised the use of extended range instruments in heavy music.
Associated with Ibanez for more than 25 years, the Japanese brand graced Shaffer with his very own signature APEX model in 2007 — remaining a stalwart of their catalogue ever since. The APEX has undergone many tweaks over the years, but the current APEX30-MGM guitar is arguably one of the highest-spec versions to date — equipped with potent Dimarzio Blaze pickups, a rock-solid Evertune bridge, high-quality Gotoh tuners and Luminescent side dot inlays.
Contemporary Construction
Ibanez's APEX30-MGM features a stealthily-sharp RG body shape, boasting deep cutaways and comfortable contours that allow for effortless access to all 24 frets. Crafted from Nyatoh, this balanced and sustain-rich material is adorned with a Maple top that guarantees a bright, snappy response for fast note-tracking.
Wizard II-7 Neck
The APEX30's bolt-on 3-piece Maple neck gives the guitar rigidity with plenty of top-end articulation — perfect for complex riffs or solos that need to cut through in a mix! The super-slender 'Wizard II-7' neck profile makes fast passages a breeze to play too, while the luxurious Ebony fingerboard comes fitted with wide/tall jumbo frets that offer you maximum control under the fingers.
DiMarzio Blaze Pickups
This elegant instrument is powered by a pair of high-output DiMarzio Blaze humbuckers. Specifically designed for Ibanez's iconic Steve Vai signature Universe 7-string guitar, these powerful pickups project a scooped mid-range tone with booming lows and crisp highs — voiced to perfectly complement the APEX30-MGM's extended range. They can handle anything from warm and jazzy clean sounds to heavily-distorted onslaught!
EverTune Bridge
The Ibanez APEX30-MGM comes installed with an EverTune bridge — an all-mechanical system that's designed to keep the guitar perfectly in tune. Featuring an innovative spring and lever mechanism for each string, the saddles pull in a way to keep constant tension and thus naturally maintain tune through all conditions — even changes in temperature, heavy bending, and squeezing chords too hard!

How do I use instant finance?
It's simple! Just add the products you want to your basket and click the "Checkout" button in your basket. Go through the checkout process and tick the "Finance" option under "Select Your Payment Method". You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish.
At the end of the checkout you'll be taken to the V12 Finance web site. This is where your finance application is processed. Assuming your application is accepted you'll be able to place your deposit and confirm your order right there.
Then, your order will come through to Andertons and we'll send you the goods. Get approval before 3pm and we'll send your order out the same working day (stock permitting) for next working day delivery!
