Product Description

The L-2000 is G&L's flagship bass model, launched in 1980 and designed by the legendary Leo Fender! Offering a super-wide range of tones, the iconic L-2000 continues to evolve and appeal to bassists well into the 21st Century — equipped to cover any style or musical taste!

At the heart of the L-2000 bass is a pair of G&L's powerful MFD ('Magnetic Field Design') humbuckers, which are backed by the flexible 'Tri-Tone' preamp — a proprietary system that provides an incredible amount of sonic legroom. What's more, the L-2000 boasts G&L's innovative Leo Fender-designed 'Saddle-Lock' bridge that transfers string energy right into the body for brilliant resonance and sustain!

The G&L Tribute Series L-2000 delivers the magic of Leo's revolutionary bass at a price attainable for every working musician. With its electronics wired at G&L's Fullerton factory in the USA too, this easily makes the L-2000 one of the best "bang-for-your-buck" basses out there!

Key Features

  • Poplar Body — Often likened to Alder, Poplar is comparably balanced in sound with a slightly lighter feel. Comes adorned with a beautiful Ash top.
  • Medium "C" Maple Neck — Supportive neck shape offers comfortable playability for both modern and traditional bassists; enhanced with a slippery satin finish and silky-smooth Rosewood fingerboard.
  • Bolt-On Construction — Produces a snappy note response for an immediate playing experience.
  • G&L MFD Humbuckers — Emit a thick sound with plenty of punch! Utilising ceramic bar magnets, G&L's distinctive MFD design transfers the magnetic field to the top of the pickup; ensuring a warmer and more dynamic sound with a wider frequency response.
  • Tri-Tone Active Preamp — Features a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing and active/passive operation, as well as a trifecta of knobs for volume, treble and bass. This system offers amazing versatility for any playing style, from poppin' funk to high-tech-fusion and aggressive metal!
  • G&L 'Saddle-Lock' Bridge — Another Leo Fender innovation! Features a small Allen screw on the side of the unit, which presses all of the string saddles together so that they resonate as though they were one single mass; resulting in increased sustain.

Reviews

"One of the best things about the Tribute L-2000 is its sound. If you are looking for girth, precision and clarity, this is where you can get loads of that. Once you plug this thing into an amp, the sum of all of its components comes together perfectly to bring you a sound you will rarely find elsewhere. There's an abundance of range, especially considering the somewhat unique circuitry. G&L's Tribute L-2000 feels at home in every genre of music imaginable, and it also has enough juice to be used in more aggressive styles." — GuitarFella.com

Excuse my English I'm French. :) I already had this bass 16 years in US version. And this one is 95% the same. Finish is good, 2 little issues : a small painting scar, and the nut a bit wider than the neck 0.5mm, but back in the days the US version wasn't flawless either.. Otherwise for the price, it's a great bass, with many tonal possibilities, If you are in a cover band, this tool is for you, and if you don't, it still also for you. The fret work is nice on mine. The neck isn't the easiest one, but u can still manage to do some fancy riffs on it. It's not a P or a J bass, it has his own grit and it blends nicely in a band. Full recommandation.
