Product Description

The G&L Tribute Kiloton is a sleek, affordable and muscular-sounding bass optimised for modern players! Designed by the legendary Leo Fender, the Kiloton bass boasts a lean and comfortable body that's paired with a fast, satin-finished Maple neck — providing superb playability. Driven by a beefy MFD ('Magnetic Field Design') humbucker wired in G&L's USA factory, the Kiloton pumps out big and bold tones. However, the pickup is placed in a tonal "sweet spot" near the bridge, which gives it a more pronounced upper mid-range peak that's perfect for penetrating through a busy band mix!

Other noteworthy appointments include G&L's rock-solid 'Saddle-Lock' bridge, and 21 medium jumbo frets that boost tone and offer a controllable feel under the fingers. Trust us, this is one of the best bass guitars you can buy for under £500!

Key Features

  • Kiloton Shape — Described as "the most comfortable bass body ever created by Leo Fender"; compact and pure with every curve and contour perfectly executed!
  • Poplar Body — Often likened to Alder, Poplar is comparably balanced in sound with a slightly lighter feel.
  • Medium "C" Maple Neck — Supportive neck shape offers brilliant playability for both modern and traditional bassists; enhanced with a slippery satin finish.
  • Bolt-On Construction — Produces a snappy note response for an immediate playing experience.
  • G&L MFD Humbucker — Emits a thick sound with plenty of punch! Utilising ceramic bar magnets, G&L's distinctive MFD design transfers the magnetic field to the top of the pickup; ensuring a warmer and more dynamic sound with a wider frequency response.
  • 3-Position Mini Toggle Mode Switch — Allows you to choose between series, split and parallel pickup modes; giving you a range of different timbres from just the single humbucker.
  • G&L 'Saddle-Lock' Bridge — Another Leo Fender innovation! Features a small Allen screw on the side of the unit, which presses all of the string saddles together so that they resonate as though they were one single mass; resulting in increased sustain.

Reviews

"The Kiloton from G&L Guitars is a pretty versatile bass, that pulls from decades of legendary experience to achieve it. The MFD humbucker pickup brings you the power of an active bass in a passive setting, with a very simple to navigate control panel. The body is familiar yet streamlined, with a great feeling neck." — Bass Musician Magazine

Looking fir a bass to add to my Squier Jazz and medium scale Ibanez. This fitted the bill. Excellent for the cash. Neck width same as the Jazz but slightly deeper at the low 1 - 5 frets. Nice satin finish and great sounds, different to the Jazz. Pretty light and very comfy and well balanced on strap Thanks 👍
