Product Description

The Cali-born Performer Precision is a powerful retro style bass packed with pro quality. Fender have equipped the Performer range to deal with the rough and tumble of touring and years of ownership. Made in the USA, the Performer P bass is kitted out with awesome Yosemite single-coil pickups, designed for rich, expressive tone.

Body and Neck

The American Performer is built using a lightweight Alder body and sturdy Maple neck, cut in a streamlined ‘C’ shape. Players after modern playability combined with classic looks will feel at home on the Performer Precision.

Its 9.5” radius Maple fretboard is a standard Fender appointment. Anyone with experience of playing a similar American-made bass or guitar will recognise its gentle curvature in contrast to the retro aesthetic.
The 20 jumbo frets make for an effortless playing experience.

Sound

The Performer comes into its own thanks to the growling Yosemite split coil pickups. Flat, staggered pole pieces increase the output of the Yosemites, while the shellac potting lets the coils breathe and keeps feedback under control. Suitable beyond your standard P bass genres.

Under the hood you’ll find Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuitry. This lets you shape your highs without adding bass using the third knob. The Performer Precision is way more versatile than the original electric bass decades ago.

Probably my dream bass. From everything from the colour down to the pickup configuration. Neck feels great and the jumbo frets definitely make a difference.

At first I was skeptical of buying a precision bass because I knew the history of their chunky necks which is a huge factor for me when buying a bass. I have large palms with short fingers. luckily my local music shop had a similar bass with the exact same neck profile so I tried what they had out. Once the performer arrived I played around on it for a good few hours and my hands naturally adjusted to it. Now I struggle to put it down. The Yosemite pickups are good but not quite my tone so I did swap those out for the emg pj geezer butler siggys. I've always wanted a precision bass and alas Fender have finally released one that not only has a very comfy neck profile but also has my preferred pickup configuartion! The Satin Lake Placid Blue finish is gorgeous too! Nice one Fender and thanks Andertons!

From my early youth, it has always been my great ambition to own an American Fender Precision Bass and now, I am certainly not disappointed. Not only does it sound great, but its beautiful matallic finish is stunning.
