Product Description

The EastCoast ST1 is the ultimate beginner guitar for almost any style of music. The iconic S-style axe was the second electric guitar ever produced and hundreds of brands have put their own twist on the classic design.

Sound

The ST1 has three single-coil pickups - the parts of the guitar that take the sound of the strings and directs it into an amp. These produce a twangy, bright tone suited to crisp clean sounds and searing solo leads. There are loads of sounds to explore because of the three interchangeable pickups. Perfect for players who want to play lots of styles of music.

You might be wondering what the protruding handle is coming out of the bridge. This tremolo or 'whammy' bar as it's commonly known, lets you change the note of the string without moving your left hand. You can get extremely creative with the tremolo.

Looks

Almost every guitarist has played or owned an S-style guitar, be it one suited to blues, folk, jazz or metal. The double-cutaway makes it extremely easy to get your left hand up to the highest of the 22 frets. These are the thin metal bars across the fingerboard. The more you have, the more notes you can play.

I bought this as a gift for a friend of mine. She asked me one day at work if I'd ever sell her one of my guitars as she fancied trying to learn. She's hasn't had the easiest life and isn't well-off, but she's a really lovely person, so I thought I'd surprise her by buying her a guitar. My intention was to take it round to show her 'the new guitar I'd bought myself', and once she'd seen it, to say that it was actually hers, not mine, and Happy Christmas. That was the plan, but me being the emotional type, the last bit came out as a tear-filled croak. She was over the moon, and ran to show her mum, saying 'Look at my new guitar!' The guitar itself is a really nice player, especially at the price, and the Lake Placid Blue finish has a faint sparkle to it. She's called it Bluey, and it's a 'she.'
