Product Description

The EastCoast ST1 is the ultimate beginner guitar for almost any style of music. The iconic S-style axe was the second electric guitar ever produced and hundreds of brands have put their own twist on the classic design.

Sound

The ST1 has three single-coil pickups - the parts of the guitar that take the sound of the strings and directs it into an amp. These produce a twangy, bright tone suited to crisp clean sounds and searing solo leads. There are loads of sounds to explore because of the three interchangeable pickups. Perfect for players who want to play lots of styles of music.

You might be wondering what the protruding handle is coming out of the bridge. This tremolo or 'whammy' bar as it's commonly known, lets you change the note of the string without moving your left hand. You can get extremely creative with the tremolo.

Looks

Almost every guitarist has played or owned an S-style guitar, be it one suited to blues, folk, jazz or metal. The double-cutaway makes it extremely easy to get your left hand up to the highest of the 22 frets. These are the thin metal bars across the fingerboard. The more you have, the more notes you can play.

Surprisingly good, especially for the cost. Bought as a backup guitar and for taking to open mic nights as a “beater”. The sound is excellent, the hard ware is nice quality and it stays in tune reasonably well. The frets are more “vintage” sized so aren’t as tall as I’d like for personal preference (but thats on me for not checking before I bought the guitar) and to be honest its still very playable, the neck feels nice with no sharp frets sticking out. If i’d have payed £400 for this guitar I’d have been happy, so to have got it in the sale for £89 I’m over the moon!

The frets stick out a little on the sides, so it’s roughed up my hand a bit, but it tunes up nicely and only requires a slight adjustment each time I play, but I play rough and keep it out of a case. As far as the wood, I don’t notice a difference in tone and it rings out nicely when played acoustic. Electronics are TBD, but on inspection, seem to be just fine. All in all, it’s a great guitar for the price.
