Sustainable Australian Tonewoods

Cole Clark takes great pride in its instruments, which are crafted predominantly from sustainable tonewoods that are indigenous to their native Australia. This Fat Lady 2 Dreadnought Cutaway guitar is no exception, which features a body with Tasmanian Blackwood back/sides and a Solid Bunya top. Blackwood offers a warm low-end similar to Koa, while Bunya delivers a bright and articulate top-end.

A Queensland Maple neck further accentuates the highs, which is adorned with a stunning She Oak fingerboard cut to a 12" radius. The Cole Clark Fat Lady 2 therefore has a fairly flat and modern feel, with the wide 44mm nut providing optimal string spacing for dexterous players. Enhancing the guitar's playability is a smooth nitrocellulose (natural satin) finish, which is applied to the whole instrument.

Unique Neck Construction

The Fat Lady 2's neck is joined to its body via Cole Clark's 'Integral Neck Construction'. This means that the neck is glued to the body face and back/side woods, so essentially one piece of wood connects all the way to the soundhole - creating a unique sound. The Spanish neck joint hearkens back to a time-trusted design that has been seen on guitars for over 300 years!

Fat Lady Series Body Shape

The Cole Clark Fat Lady series encompasses a range of versatile Dreadnought-style acoustic guitars. Adhering to an iconic and popular body shape, these instruments project loudly and have a punchy mid-range character; making them a great choice for singer-songwriter strummers.

These instruments also follow Cole Clark's ingenious, internally-carved body top and back design. With the wood at the lower bout section cut slightly thinner, this allows the soundboard to vibrate more freely for better natural volume. But if you're concerned about this design affecting the guitar's strength; you needn't worry! With channelled bracing (another feature unique to Cole Clark), this gives extra stability to the body.

Analogue 3-Way Pickup System

At the heart of all Cole Clark electro-acoustic guitars is a highly-innovative pickup system, which is regarded by many experts as the most natural-sounding currently available. Using a combination of six under-saddle piezos, a body face sensor and a built-in condenser microphone; the elements from this system capture only the frequencies that they're best equipped to handle. This culminates in an authentic acoustic tone when amplified through a PA system.

An effective 3-band EQ section gives Cole Clark's system even more flexibility, and you can even blend the outputs of the piezo and sensor pickups to find the perfect sonic balance.

High-Quality Hardware

Cole Clark guitars come equipped with reliable Grover tuners that provide a smooth turning action for precise string pitching. Graph Tech TUSQ nuts are also thoughtfully installed, which offer efficient string vibration transference to the guitar's top for crystal-clear highs and broad, open lows. The smooth, precision-engineered design of a TUSQ nut also helps to prevent strings from snagging, ensuring rock-solid tuning stability.
