Product Description

The Big Sister is a bass version of B&G's flagship Little Sister electric guitar. Maintaining the unique "pre-war" acoustic proportions of the Little Sister with its compact chambered Mahogany body, the B&G Big Sister still boasts a full 34" scale to provide responsive playability and a bold, bombastic bass tone!

Oozing the class, vintage-styling and first-grade tonewood choices that all B&G guitars are renowned for — the beautiful Big Sister would be a wonderful addition to any bass enthusiast's instrument arsenal.

Key Features

  • Lightweight Mahogany Body — Carved, chambered body achieves a delicate balance between resonance and resistance to feedback. Results in an organic, vocal-like quality to the sound.
  • Book-Matched Figured Maple Top — Exudes a first-class look, enhanced with a transparent Tobacco Sunburst finish.
  • Soft 'V' Neck — Provides a traditional, addictive playing feel reminiscent of vintage "Golden Era" instruments.
  • Aguilar Pickups — 'Super-Double' humbuckers boast two rows of Alnico V magnets which come together to create a big, thick and growly tone.
  • Solid Brass Tailpiece — Brilliantly transfers the entire frequency spectrum without sounding overly "metallic".

B&G Crossroads Series

B&G splits its guitar manufacturing between Israel and the Far East. The brand's 'Private Build' models are crafted in Tel Aviv, while their 'Crossroads' instruments are built in China and feature Korean electronics. B&G's Crossroads series guitars promise almost the same levels of feel, tone and finesse offered by their handmade Private Build models — but are just a fraction of the cost.

There are some subtle differences of course, but with any Crossroads guitar, you're still getting an exemplary instrument that will stand the test of time. In fact, B&G's Israeli luthiers have travelled several times to their Chinese factory and personally trained the builders there — to ensure that every detail of the product meets or exceeds their expectations. In B&G's own words: "great lutherie is not really about the country of manufacture, as some people seem to get hung up about. It is about building techniques, economic scale, and raw materials."

Premium Construction

B&G's Private Build instruments are constructed using traditional methods, in order to capture the magic of vintage electric guitars made in the '50s — otherwise known as the "Golden Era". These older techniques are not suitable for mass production, but B&G has gone above and beyond to make sure that its Asian-made variant of the Big Sister is the best that it can be at its alluring price-point; using only the best modern building techniques possible.

High-quality materials are employed throughout, with a Mahogany body and neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard and a Figured Maple top. In order to keep the woods alive and resonant, B&G chose the thinnest modern finish available (UV) and chambered the Step Sister's body for an organic, acoustic-like response that's resistant to feedback.
