Construction

The Rapier 33 features an Akoume body from Central Africa, selected for its natural sonic characteristics, and the sleek "S" type body shape allows for easy access to the upper frets. The soft "C" shape Canadian Maple neck is extremely playable and is topped with a 12" radius Rosewood fingerboard, perfect for both rhythm and lead playing. Featuring 23 medium jumbo frets, including a zero-fret, the Rapier 33 is built for speed, comfort and accuracy.

Electronics

True to the original design, the Rapier 33 features three pickups including the instantly recognisable forward slanted middle pickup. A trio of Entwistle Low Noise EWR64 mini-humbuckers offer exceptional tonal response, balanced output and clarity. With the ‘Bass Cut’ switch engaged, the Rapier 33 delivers that classic and much-loved 60’s jangle. The original Rhythm/Solo toggle switch has been rewired as a 3 way pickup selector and by utilising the second slide switch, you'll have seven pickup options on hand, making the Rapier 33 incredibly versatile.

Hardware

The Rapier 33 features a high-spec roller bridge and original Rapier Hi Lo design smooth action vibrato bridge, perfectly delivering those iconic '60s warbles and flutters. A smooth, friction-free, precision cut 43mm GraphTech Nubone nut and Wilkinson machine heads ensure accurate intonation and solid tuning stability.

Sound

Ric Woods18th Jan 2022

I saw the Rapier 33 in Lee and Pete’s video and was smitten. A bit unusual, bags of retro cool, lots of fun - this guitar has all the qualities I personally lack. The finish is spot-on, the quality of the hardware is good - I love the shimmering trem and what’s more it stays in tune! There’s a great range of sounds too. It reminds me of why I fell in love with electric guitars when I was a very small boy. A bit soppy, I know. Sorry about that.
