The Boss GT-1000 ushers in a new era of amp and effect processing for the Japanese company. They’ve always been at the forefront of all things guitar effects and their GT-1000 captures years of innovation, engineering and design into this uber-powerful pedalboard.

It’s got an ultra-fast DSP engine, 32-bit processing and a 96 kHz sampling rate. Essentially, what this means is that it’s got some powerful computer processors controlling the quality of the audio which means you get incredibly accurate and warm sounding guitar tones from the GT-100.

Version 3 Software Update Available

The new Version 3 software update for the GT-1000 includes a significant upgrade to their offering for bassists including:

  • Newly added bass support and enhanced performance functionality
  • Three new AIRD bass preamps: NATURAL BASS, X-DRIVE BASS, and SVT BASS
  • Nineteen newly added bass effects, including an MDP compressor, overdrives and distortions, touch wah, flanger, and more
  • New Manual and Pedalboard modes for direct-access control on individual stomp boxes to the original effects.
  • New types added to the onboard AIRD Output Select library, including 11 guitar types and 2 bass types

This also includes their version 2 upgrades which include the following:

  • Four new AIRD preamps: MATCH COMBO, BG COMBO, ORNG STACK, BGNR UB METAL
  • Three new OD/DS effects: CENTA OD, HM-2, METAL CORE
  • Three new Master Delay types: SPACE ECHO, TAPE ECHO PX, BIN DRUM ECHO

AIRD Amp Modelling Technology

The GT-1000 harnesses new in-house technology called AIRD (Augmented Impulse Response Dynamics) which takes their Tube Logic tech to a new level giving you the flexibility, performance and practical useability of the Waza, Blues Cube and Katana amps.

Tube amps loved by guitarists are highly musical and highly responsive with a harmonic quality often ignored by digital technology but the AIRD tech in the GT-1000 brings all the best parts of a tube amp together in their modelling sounds. This will obviously be heavily affected by the speaker system or poweramp that you run the GT-1000 into which is why the AIRD technology aims to make their tube amp models as flexible as possible so that they’ll sound good no matter what system you’re plugging into.

Boss Tone Studio

Tap into hundreds of new sounds when you connect the GT-1000 to the Tone Studio app via Bluetooth. The expansive tone library stores any additional content you'll want to get your guitar playing fingers on - including patches designed in collaboration with Marty Friedman, Steve Lukather and more. Looking for new rock and metal tones? Expansive effects or world music instruments? It's all right here. Edit your dream tone to your heart's content within the app from the comfort of your sofa.

Everything you need in one box

The GT-1000 is simply your all-in-one solution for pedals and amplifiers. It’s got a stunning array of amp and cabinet models to base your tone off along with a bucketload of effects all controlled by sturdy footswitches. This means you won’t need a pedalboard or even an amp or cab with the GT-1000. This isn’t the first time Boss have done multi-fx or amp modelling – they’re one of the go-to brands when it comes to digital effects – however this is their newest addition to stake their claim as kings of the digital (and analogue) guitar world.

Boss Tone Central

Boss release new GT-1000 artist patches every month via Tone Central. Their most recent free-to-download artist patches come from Japanese guitarist Kazuki Isogai (Neo Soul/Pickup Jazz), modern British virtuoso Jack Gardiner (Modern Versatility) and Norwegian bass soloist Andreas Oxholm (Bass Patches).

It took me a few days to get my head around the different ways of using the GT-1000 but I'm there now and it sounds great.

I moved on from an HX Stomp and an Eventide Timeline and couldn’t be happier with the sounds that this unit gives and its future potential and longevity. Workflow is comparable to Hx edit (I don’t rely on device displays due to eyesight and hunching over) and only real gripe is being limited to 16 IRs with a clunky way to load them. But the stock cabs are very usable and are better than stock helix; you don’t need IRs with this unit. Effects are plentiful and world class, amps do have that feel and the lag less switching means no sacrifices on patches. Build quality is that of full Helix at Lt price
