SKU: SY300

Product Description

The new SY300 is nothing like any of the guitar synths BOSS have done before. While previous synthesizers from BOSS required you to use a specific GK pickup and a 13 pin cable, this pedal works just off of a standard 1/4" jack. This means you can plug in any guitar or bass and get playing instantly.

Zero Latency

Even when using the specific GK pickup system previous BOSS guitar synthesizers latency could still be an issue. With the SY300 you will get zero latency straight out of the box with any guitar or bass even with just a 1/4" jack. This low latency makes integrating it in to your live and studio rigs really easy as you just press one button and you are ready to go.

Real Polyphonic Synthesis

Using an all new DSP you have access to three polyphonic synth sections at any given time along with up to four effects all running off separate processors so you can get the entire sound out of one box, no external pedals needed. Layering sounds and effects is extremely important when coming up with great synth sounds so having it all in one pedal is a huge time saver.

Presets Built In

Synthesis is a tricky thing to get your head around and it does take time to get it right. To help you get started out of the box BOSS have set up 70 ready to play preset patches for you to play with before you start creating your own patches. With 99 user patch banks available you have enough space for an entire shows worth of sounds in one box.

USB Audio Interface

When using the SY300 in the studio you will most likely want to record directly to the board rather than going through an amplifier. So to make it easier the SY300 has been loaded with a USB interface built in so you can record straight through with the effects or DI but monitoring the SY300 signal. This way of recording means you can actually 're-synth' your sound after recording letting you get the part down first before worrying about tone.

Forget latency, forget an extra pickup - this is a total gamechanger. I've only had this for about a week or two, barely even scratched the surface of what this thing can do. Perhaps there are decades of tones, settings etc which I very much look forward to exploring. A major selling point for me is the fact I can use this alongside my amplifier - making for some absolute killer lines with octave settings on the SY-300. A roughly affordable bit of kit that even on the surface, will guarantee to blow your mind.

Fantastic analogue synth sounds and no ugly hex pickup. Tracking is perfect. I don't need a guitar to sound like a trombone. I just want to add a layer of distortion synth into the mix.

Great piece of kit - very easy to use and the polyphonic tracking/resynthesis is phenomenal. You'll get along with the SY300 as long as you don't have unrealistic expectations about what it can do - it won't do natural or acoustic sounds (although the organ sounds are pretty decent) and, even though it can sound pretty immense, it doesn't sound quite as rich and warm as my analogue keyboard polysynth - also, because the pedal is essentially re-synthesising the output of the pickups on your guitar, the attack and decay of the sound follows the sound of your guitar (the sound also alters when you select a different pickup or roll off the tone on the guitar) - there are a couple of way of altering this a bit (there's a compressor so you can add sustain and you can soften the attack rate) but it's not a traditional synth amp envelope. This is a limitation if you're expecting it to behave exactly like a traditional keyboard synth (or even a standard guitar synth that is triggering from a hex pickup) - but the flip side of this is that the SY300 is incredibly expressive, you can play it very naturally and it responds with precision to exactly what you play - it tracks everything - including harmonics and (very cool for percussive hammond organ sounds) mutes. I haven't explored the deep editing features yet (the modulation matrix has some really interesting possibilities and the midi implementation is really comprehensive) - also, I'm planning on running this in a loop in my Helix and, since the SY300 tracks whatever you run into it, the possibilities there are huge... it's a keeper
