Product Description

The One Control Silver Sonic Peg reproduces the sound of an iconic '70s tube bass amp. You can probably guess which one we're talking about! This highly-responsive bass preamp pedal is adaptable to any style of playing — from picking to slap. And with a dynamic tone range similar to the original amp, there's also a switch on the side of the enclosure that allows you to boost/cut by 15dB — so that you can easily go from clean to overdriven tones! This pedal is perfect for any bass player who's keen to attain that coveted "SVT" sound without breaking the bank.

One Control 'BJF Series' Pedals

One Control are well-known for their pedal switchers and pedalboard management devices, but they also make their own effects — the BJF Series! These mini pedals are designed by Björn Juhl, a legend within the stompbox sphere who's highly regarded for his work with Mad Professor, Barefoot FX and his own company, BJFE. These stompboxes not only sound great, but save precious pedalboard real-estate too!

Björn Juhl on the Sonic Silver Peg:

"With every pick of the strings, a certain attack is added which in turn creates power and momentum for the band. And with each slap, thick sustain adds a colour to the bass tone, along with an important dignified presence. In my opinion, all bass amps should respond dynamically to speed and power. Iconic vintage bass amps have a vibrant colouring, wide tolerance and a deep breath that can correspond to any genre."

"We captured a sound similar to the 100W "V4" tube amplifier released by Ampeg in the 1970s. The "SVT" amplifier, which has been described by many as a 'legendary', revolutionized the bass world. To the best of my knowledge, SVT is the first bass amplifier to adopt a speaker cabinet with a higher resonance frequency than the bass sound of the bass guitar."

"Sonic Silver Peg succeeded in reproducing the power of the amplifier by installing the 'Volume' control at an early stage in the circuit. In addition, like the original, Sonic Silver Peg has an active 'Mid' knob that achieves a boost/cut of ± 15dB centered around 800Hz. The 'Tone' knob controls the low-pass filter, which can sweep from 300Hz to 10kHz. And, with the '0 dB/-15 dB' switch, it is also possible to switch the sound of the two original inputs, from a clean, crafted bass tone to colourful and powerful overdrive tones. Since there is a sufficient output level, it can also be outputted directly to a mixer."
