So, this was a B-stock bass with a ding on the body. Could've been a display model? Who knows! The ding wasn't that bad to be honest, and with a bit of polish barely visible. Otherwise the bass looked mint. Spectors are a strange breed... Small bodied but very heavy due to the solid maple construction. 35" scale, 17.5mm string spacing and a flat fingerboard makes it a bit of a departure from the usual Fender offerings. I bought this for a metal project so I could tune down, however with a set of Power Slinkys it's still easy to play and hugely versatile for any style of music. It does clean, hifi tones well, will get a neck pickup thump, or a more middly bridge tone with ease. The neck is a handful, however if you've come from a P bass or a Stingray it won't feel too unfamiliar. Fret ends are perfect, fret levelling is about a 9.5 out of 10...one or two buzzy frets up the high end of the neck. Maple top is gorgeous, and the finish is superb. The Aguilar pickups and preamp are stunning... Low lows and high highs, with a great smack of mids from the maple construction and through neck. Hardware is great. Spector bridges are a learning curve, but easy to set up once you know how. Overall, can't fault it. Even at full RRP it's a cracking deal. Not just a good bass for the price, but an excellent bass full stop. If you want powerful, modern tones with a ton of versatility you're in the right place. I'd happily use this as my only gigging bass.
