Product Description

G&L has brought its popular offset model, the Fallout, to its diverse bass guitar range. Driven by a powerful Magnetic Field Design (MFD) humbucker that guarantees bold bass tones, the affordable G&L Tribute Fallout bass is perhaps more distinctive for its short 30" scale length. Other key features include G&L's super-solid Saddle Lock bridge and a comfortable "Slim C"-shaped neck.

Short Scale Design

The G&L Tribute Fallout bass boasts a modest and manageable 30" scale length. With less string tension than a conventional 34” bass scale length, this shorter instrument offers a much looser feel as less strain is exerted on the strings; making them easier to fret and even bend. This, combined with the frets being much closer together, means that the G&L Fallout bass feels easy to play and delivers a deep, fat sound.

Classic Construction

Unconventional scale length aside, the G&L Fallout bass' tonewoods are fairly typical. A light and balanced-sounding Basswood body is paired with a snappy bolt-on Hard Rock Maple neck, adorned with a beautifully-smooth Roasted Jatoba fingerboard.

Saddle Lock Bridge

G&L's acclaimed Saddle Lock bridge makes an appearance on the Tribute Fallout bass. Using a mechanism that prevents the individual string saddles from moving around, this system ensures that your strings are evenly spaced apart for greater playing consistency. With the saddles locked together, the vibrations from the strings are also transferred more effectively through the bass’ body - offering increased sustain.

Powerful MFD Pickup

Powered by a G&L Magnetic Field Humbucker (MFD), the Tribute Fallout short-scale bass emits a thick sound with plenty of bottom-end boom. Utilising ceramic bar magnets, G&L's distinctive MFD design transfers the magnetic field to the top of the pickup, ensuring a warmer and more dynamic sound with a wider frequency response.

And while a single pickup configuration may seem limited, the G&L Fallout bass does sport a 3-position mini toggle switch that allows you to choose between parallel, split and "OMG" pickup modes. Giving you a range of different timbres, the Fallout also comes with customary volume and tone controls too.

What a beast of a bass, everything on this bass is perfect, or maybe I'm just lucky.

You should never buy any guitar, in my opinion, without picking it up, playing it and checking it out thoroughly. I broke my own rules with this one and ordered the G&L Fallout bass solely on my experience of the Fallout guitar which I've had for a while now and absolutely love. It was taking a risk but I wasn't disappointed. The bass has the same 'just right feel' that the guitar version has; a wide range of tones, impressive finish and that indescribable quality that just makes you want to pick it up and play it. I've owned a short scale bass before which looked great and was a delight to play but was let down by a rather muddy and ill-defined sound. This bass, however, delivers in this department providing three pickup settings; they'll be something to please every bass player here. I've now got a great pair of matching guitars, well almost, one is in Alpine white and the other in Olympic white. You can never have absolute perfection I suppose.
