The Essential D embodies the Atkin Guitars approach to luthiery. This beautifully simplified take on the classic dreadnought design combines stunning vintage aesthetics with mesmerising tone – the result is one of the best acoustic guitars you’ll ever play!

Atkin Essential D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

Premium Dreadnought Design

Atkin’s Essential D has been lovingly crafted as a stripped-back homage to the classic dreadnoughts of old - think the Martin D-18. This is the very essence of the acoustic guitar; triple-distilled, full-fat tone and a glorious aged character.

The classic Sitka Spruce and Mahogany combo, combined with the broad lower bout and shoulders, gives you a warm, commanding sound. Despite the accentuated volume, the Essential D retains all of the finesse and dynamics that you’d expect, with the Ebony fretboard and bridge adding the perfect amount of top-end sparkle.

A tortoiseshell pickguard and thin aged nitrocellulose finish complete the picture. Luxurious in looks, sound and feel, the Essential D is a worthy addition to the Atkin line-up.

Finish & Electronics Options

Atkin offer two types of finish for all of their guitars: aged and mirror finish. Both are nitrocellulose, but as the name suggests, the former has been painstakingly aged for that vintage vibe. It's also worth noting that while none of the Atkins come with built-in electronics, we'll happily fit some for you. The recommended systems are as follows:

Handmade in Britain

Based in Canterbury, UK, Atkin Guitars proudly offer a range of stunning hand-built acoustic guitars. Their highly-acclaimed instruments are widely considered some of the best on the market, and come with a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime warranty.

Founded in 1995 by Alister Atkin, the aim of the game is uncompromising tone. While all of Atkin’s instruments are handmade, they aren’t afraid to experiment with modern technology. This combination of traditional luthiery and an open-minded approach yields the same results time after time; the ultimate acoustic guitar experience.

As well as their core line, Atkin offer custom builds and are happy to take requests. If you've got any questions about tweaks to your Atkin acoustic, please get in touch with us.
