Construction

The Alvarez MD60EBG is constructed predominantly from Mahogany, with its body and neck crafted from this popular tonewood. Offering a warm and rich mid-range, this material also accentuates the lows to ensure that the full range of the instrument is heard.

Adorned with a Solid AA Sitka Spruce top, this wood adds some crucial top-end crispness. Providing you with plenty of presence, you can play fingerpicked patterns with all of the clarity and articulation you’d expect from a high-quality acoustic guitar.

The MD60EBG also features Alvarez’s thoughtful FST2 bracing, which is essentially a forward-shifted X brace design. With the axis of the X closer to the sound hole, this design forms a larger soundboard area that can harness more vibrations from the strings. This allows the guitar to resonate more naturally, giving it additional volume and an airier sound.

Electronics

Like many of its counterparts, the Alvarez MD60EBG is fitted with high-end LR Baggs electronics. This model features their VTC system, with its discrete sound-hole-mounted pickup capturing the full acoustic range and voice of the instrument.

This exceptional pickup convincingly transfers its unique tonal qualities through a PA system or recording interface, making this guitar perfect for live performance and session work.

The Masterworks Range

Alvarez’s tagline for their Masterworks range is ‘Truly Eloquent Professional Guitars’. Just shy of their hand-crafted Yairi range, the Masterworks offerings are the cream of the crop. As with the rest of their diverse range, Alvarez are committed to offering stunning aesthetics, familiar playability and classy acoustic tones.

The Masterworks guitars are defined by their all-solid tonewood construction, meticulous attention to detail and designs inspired by the most popular acoustics of all-time. If you’re looking for uncompromising quality, look no further than the Alvarez Masterworks acoustics!

About Alvarez

Established in 1965 by major US instrument distributor St. Louis Music, Alvarez teamed up with master luthier Kazuo Yairi with the aim of producing the finest guitars in the world.

The success of Alvarez-Yairi guitars helped put the brand on the market, and are still handmade in Kani, Japan to this day. In the decades that followed, Alvarez significantly expanded their operation, and now produce one of the most extensive and diverse ranges of acoustic instruments in the world.

Ranging from affordable entry-level to world-class handmade instruments, Alvarez have got everything covered. Their instruments have been used by the likes of Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana, Ani DiFranco and many more – they’re obviously doing something right!

Smooth satin finish on the neck and not too large, making this an easy guitar to play and it sounds great.

Somebody did their job poorly. After few times playin i have notice that neck is concave bent. Guitar has dried out big time and was not stored properly, in warehous and obviously when it was shipped. Also chips from drilling pin holes was not removed so they drop inside of the guitar body and make rumble noise when you pick up guitar and play it. Frets need to be dressed and re-crowned, and overall set up is a must. Action is way to high from factory and if anyone is looking to buy this model please double check with the seller what is the condition of the guitar. I had to take my guitar to the lutier for him to make best of the situation, and and we will see the end result.

Mr claes nordberg3rd Jun 2020

I needed a guitar in the 500-600 euro bracket that I can take everywhere including the street (busking), lending out to fellow musicians etc. Was looking at eastmans ed1 and ed2, this one and recording king 318. All are solid offerings in this price range. The eastmans had a good sound, but it was one sound not the complexed sound (low end plus a mid or top) I wanted. I took a chance guided by the youtube reviews that is avallable and the fact this this has a wide nut. It sure has a complexed sound. JP Cournier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tY0HWjrZS0&t=818s plus one of andertons videos made me decide on the alvarez The top is already yellowish and the mahogany is stunning. It did take litle setup ( to much neckbow) and I'm not finished yet. I do this slowly and may lower the strings at the nut to. I can't rate the durability after such a short time. Nor can I judge the LR Baggs vtc after such a short time. Didn't like my taylor es2. My k&k passive has been ok. it sounds ok strumming so far. Have no idea if it sounds like bluegrass guitar. I'm not into that. It sounds good :D
