Product Description

Gretsch have a proud heritage in guitar making and the resonator is among the earliest examples of their craftsmanship that made them famous. The G9200 retains the vintage charm that made slide guitar so poular and a bright, characterful tone you are sure to love.

Here's what Gretsch have to say about the G9200

The miracle of volume! With its mahogany "long-body" design and comfortable soft-"V" neck, this faithful reissue of the 1930s classic sounds and plays like a million bucks. The vital feature of all Gretsch resonator guitars is the all-new Gretsch "Ampli-Sonic" diaphragm (resonator cone), which is hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99 percent pure aluminium and yields an impressive quality and volume of tone.

I always feel like the term, "great quality for the price", was always a bit of a backhanded compliment, but after owning this guitar for about 5 weeks now, I understand what it means... but in a different way. It makes me wonder if a guitar at this price is this pleasant to play, the more expensive ones must have been crafted by Greek Gods with the full intention of creating an instrument that plays like floating on a cloud whilst being fed the most exotic fruit ever created. This instrument is so nice to play. It feels super nice and it sounds wonderful. It is so full of personality and works great the slide guitar it is intended to be, but it's also super nice to play your fingerstyle tunes on. You do have to get used to anchoring your hand on the bridge, or above/slightly in front of it (it is about 1 1/2 cm above the strings), but when you get it, it feels very nice to play... This is if you want to use it for more than just slide, anyway. Whilst the appearance is quite basic, with its satin finish and lack of binding, the finish and colour are absolutely beautiful and is really complimented by the reflective resonator cone, which also looks beautiful. Now, you may notice I gave 4 stars for durability. Whilst this guitar is a wonderful instrument for the price (whatever that really means), I have encountered my first problem in terms of the quality. In my case, I've recently noticed a bit of a rattle when playing certain notes. It doesn't happen all the time and is probably an easy fix, as this is a new thing after being played pretty much every single day for the first time in its life, but it's something to bear in mind. You may need to set it up eventually for reasons you might not find with the more expensive resonators this soon, but that shouldn't put you off. In conclusion - a beautiful guitar, beautiful sound, and beautiful feel. For a guitar between 450-550 quid, if this is your first step into resonator guitars, it feels to me like this is a great start and can really keep you going till you think you need an upgrade. Buy your new companion today. :)

This is my first resonator guitar and seems to be a very good instrument for the money. Having tuned the guitar into an open D tuning it sounds awesome with a great tone and good level of volume.

Beautiful blues guitar. The resonator makes it sound like its plugged in to an amp.

My first Resonator and I'm impressed by the guitars sound and finish. The guitar tech's done a good job on the conversion too. Thanks...

Fabulous guitar for the money; beautifully compact body, very pretty looking with the resonator in the mahogany top. Bought as a gift for my son who loves it.
