Product Description

The Epiphone L-00 Studio pays tribute to the the fabled Gibson parlour guitar — with the modern addition of Fishman electronics!

Historical Inspiration

This guitar is the successor of Epiphone's original series of flat-tops. These can be traced back as far as the 1930s! The smaller, parlour style body found here has been popular with blues players of all ages — thanks to its light build, focused woody tone and shorter 24.75" scale length. This all contributes to an instrument which is perfect for fingerpicking and slide playing.

High-Quality Construction

The back and sides are formed from Mahogany, while a solid Spruce top provides the top layer. This wood will actually improve in tone while it ages, so this could be an instrument that you return to for many years to come! This combination of woods leads to a big, warm sound; it's far larger than you'd imagine from such a small instrument.

Fishman Electronics

A Fishman Sonitone preamp and Sonicore under-saddle pickup system complete proceedings. When plugged in, your guitar's natural voice will be authentically amplified through a PA system or dedicated acoustic amplifier. Integrated controls even mean that you can dial-in your preferred sound using tone and volume settings.

Guitar is beautiful, very enjoyable to play but I think some of the 'action' needs adjusting for the 6th, 5th and 4th strings. However it's a joy to play. Haven't tested the electric facilities yet. Aesthetically, the Epiphone 'E' emblem stuck on the pickguard is loose and will fall off soon, as it is poorly stuck on. But overall, love this guitar as a beginner-intermediate guitar.

I was very disappointed with the setup of this guitar when it arrived. I do not believe that Andertons had made any attempt to either check or correct the setup before shipping it to me. I believe the last time anyone checked this may have been in the factory in the far east before shipping it on a slow boat to UK. Initial assessment was that while the string height looked correct at the 1st fret but by 12th fret it was 7/64ths of an inch. It would only play with some semblance of correctness with a capo on the first or second fret. In short it was unplayable. Upon further investigation it was found that the nut had been cut incorrectly. When strings were removed it was found that the machine heads were all loose. In addition the input jack was loose due to a faulty washer. The Epiphone badge on the scratch plate was lifting off, to be corrected by superglue. I contacted Andertons by telephone to be told that if I wanted a setup it would cost me in the order of £50, and that there would be a 2 week lead time before they could start work on it. This was even though I had just taken delivery of the guitar. This was unacceptable. I took the guitar to a local guitar shop and asked them to rectify the setup. Lesson learned don't buy before you try.

I like the all round versatility that this guitar offers with playing styles, it does well with both pick and finger and with the added bonus of the fishman onboard volume is not a problem,i feel Epiphone are making great quality affordable guitars.

Lovely guitar: I was after a smaller body but still with a good level of volume, so this suited perfectly. It's largely than the average parlour guitar, which helps keep the sound bright but with enough low end to cut through in a jam setting. The neck is narrow, similar to an electric, which also suited me although some might be less keen. The pre-amp is good, some might say a little muddy, but nothing that can't be fixed with a little EQ down the line, and good value at this price point. The 'E' on the scratchplate came off within a day, but this shouldn't be seen as reflection of the construction which is excellent: the bracing inside is far better than expected at this price point. I don't know why this guitar isn't more popular, but perhaps I've got unusual taste!

The actions far too high and it's not a pleasant playing experience. This was due largely I think to the product settling once it left Andertons. When I bought it there wasn't really the option to set up the guitar for me. Just to tune it. They seemed too busy to assist in this way. May be that's my relative inexperience of playing, but my more experienced players were surprised at this lack of option?
