Product Description

Fender electrics are a popular choice, but their acoustic cousins aren't quite so common. The new Paramount range, designed in the USA and made in China, are attractive, great value acoustic guitars. Whether you're new to guitar or a more experienced player, you should give them a try!

The PM1 dreadnought in Mahogany is the perfect choice for singer-songwriters. This is because dreadnoughts naturally have a slight mid-scoop, allowing the voice to sit in the mix without fighting the guitar frequencies. And because it's all-mahogany, that means you will get a natural warm tone from the woods without too much brightness. You do still retain clarity however, and this is because of the square-ish dreadnought shape.

The PM1 dreadnought has a strong low-end with good projection, and a clear presence in the upper mids. This gives you a lot more depth than you'd expect from a guitar in this price range. The dread has a 643mm (25.3-inch) scale length and a 43mm (1.690-inch) nut width with a regular Fender bridge spacing of 55mm.

Fender Style

Some companies skimp on the finish on low-mid range models in favour of price. Fender have managed to fit a lot of personality into these guitars without padding the price. They have a 60s style checkerboard rosette, a 40s style logo and 60s style inlays. It might seem like a strange combo of decades and styles, but the overall effect is pleasing.

Here's what Fender say about the Mahogany PM-1:

An expansion of the Paramount Series acoustic guitars, the PM-1 Dreadnought NE, All-Mahogany, Natural combines simple styling with organic-looking finish to create a highly responsive instrument. Carefully crafted for superior tone, high performance and earthy visual appeal, this premium instrument will satisfy all players searching for an inspiring guitar. The open-pore mahogany top is extremely lively, with a lush, warm voice and enhanced dynamic range that responds to every nuance of your playing, no matter how hard or fast you strum and pick. The scalloped X-braces are carefully placed for detailed note definition, working in harmony with the top for the perfect amount of ringing sustain. The rich, all-solid mahogany back and sides work with the top for well-balanced, earthy and organic tone. The fast-playing “C”-shaped mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard are carefully crafted to accommodate any playing style while offering comfortable performance anywhere on the neck. The durable ebony bridge pins and bridge with compensated bone nut add a rich note to the warm voice of the guitar and create accurate intonation, as well as being stylish aesthetic touches. The open-pore finish allows the guitar to resonate freely, making the instrument breathe with lively tone. Includes deluxe hardshell case and humidifier.
