Product Description

The Martin 16 series is an affordable entry-point into the world of USA-made Martin guitars. With its all-ovangkol body and built-in Fishman Matrix VT electronics, the D-16E is a workhorse guitar offering the quality of tone and craftsmanship you expect from an American-made Martin.

Dreadnought Body

The dreadnought is arguably the most popular acoustic guitar shape in the world, and Martin were the inventors of it! Dreadnoughts are known for being one the louder body shapes thanks to its big sound and excellent projection. With a booming bass and lower-midrange response, you're sure to be heard with a dreadnought. This shape is responsive to both strumming and fingerpicking so it'll handle whatever style you throw at it.

Construction

The guitar is an all-ovangkol construction. Ovangkol is similar to rosewood with its low and high end emphasis but with a more responsive midrange. Using this wood for the body and top results in a versatile tone that's great for a wide range of styles. This guitar has a modified low oval neck, a rounded shape that fills the hand nicely. The high-performance neck taper keeps the neck comfortable whether you're playing open chords reaching those upper frets.

Fishman Matrix VT Enhance Electronics

This guitar is ready to perform thanks to the built-in Fishman Matrix VT Enhance electronics. The Enhance undersaddle pickup is designed to bring out the dynamics and percussiveness in your playing. You can blend this in or out with the discreet, soundhole mounted preamp that also features volume and tone controls for shaping your sound. Whether you're performing live into an amp/PA, or you're recording into an audio interface, the D-16E is ready to go right out of the box!
