The slope-shouldered J-45 is arguably Gibson's most timeless acoustic guitar. As Gibson players go, Slash is among the most iconic and recognisable. It's only fitting that their latest collaboration - the Slash Collection - features a take on his favourite acoustic. Introducing the Slash J-45, a slick take on a classic!
The understated workhorse
Since the introduction of the J-45 in 1942, Gibson have used a mahogany back and sides with a luscious Sitka spruce top. Its rounded shoulder design offers broad sound and projection - incredibly responsive to any style but with a certain degree of attitude. And let's not forget that stunning finish.
The J-45's timeless curves and rosewood fretboard ensure a wholly comfortable playing experience. With Slash's own Custom round neck profile, expect an old-school feel with hefty grip. A mahogany and rosewood combination offers warmth, sustain and a confident attack.
Hardware & electronics
Rosewood is the bridge material of choice, adding to its excellent sustain. Tusq is used for both the nut and the saddle for extra tonal consistency and resilience, and the Grover Rotomatic tuners provide the familiar excellent tuning stability.
Finally, Gibson have appointed the trusty LR Baggs VTC pickup system. This pickup uniquely aims to mirror the movement of the guitar rather than the attack of the strings, and it's designed to capture the most detailed nuances of your playing style. Whether it's the subtle strumming of Patience or the anthemic verses from November Rain, the Slash J-45 will inspire to no end.
