Andertons Second Hand Terms & Conditions / FAQ
If I buy a second hand product from Andertons do I get any type of warranty?
Yes. We offer buyers a 3 month parts & labour warranty on all used items.
What other assurances can you give me about the quality second hand items sold at Andertons?
We inspect every single item thoroughly before accepting it for a part exchange. We won't take in items that do not meet an acceptable standard, because we don't want to have to take them back after they are sold!
Items are all in full working order, without defects, and complete with everything necessary to use the item as it was intended. In most cases, acceptable items have minimal cosmetic damage, and certainly no damage that would have occurred outside the bounds of reasonable use.
I want to trade my old gear in. How does part exchange work at Andertons?
We will allow customers to trade in old gear as part exchange against a new item. The value of your used item will count as a discount towards a new piece of gear.
Can I get cash or credit from Andertons for used items?
No. We deal in used gear on a part exchange basis only, except in very special cases.
How much will I get for my gear? How much will you sell it for?
We have a very open and honest approach to part exchanges – we will value the item at what we think we can sell it for, and we will offer the customer 2/3rds of that valuation.
E.g. if we think something is worth £100 to sell, we’ll offer £66 to you on a part exchange.
You’ll never find out that Andertons has bought something from you at a really low price to sell for a really high price.
How do you decide what something is worth?
We have years of experience in selling used musical gear, so we often have a good idea of what items are worth on the second hand market. In addition, we use various web listings like eBay and private ad listings to estimate value.
What if we disagree on the price? I think it’s worth more than you are offering me!
Once again, we try to be as honest as possible over part exchanges, and would not knowingly try to short change you. When discussing your part exchange with staff, please consider that we want to strike a deal that makes everybody happy, and if you aren't satisfied you are under no obligation to accept a part exchange.
So how do I go about part exchanging my old stuff?
Ideally you should bring the goods in to our Guildford store – any day of the week is fine. 99% of the time we will be able to give you a valuation on the spot.
If you can’t make it to the store call or email us with details of the items you wish to part exchange, and we will let you know the best way to initiate a deal. Please note, we cannot give you a firm indication whether we will accept a part exchange, or a valuation, until we have seen items "in the flesh".
I live too far away from you to visit your Guildford store. Can I still trade in my old gear?
Yes, probably! Depending on what you are exchanging, and what you want to buy, there are a few different options. Give us a call and we will do what we can to make the part-ex as easy as possible!
What items can I trade in for a part exchange?
We consider anything for part exchange as long as...
- It’s a type of product we would normally sell
- It is complete, in reasonable condition and in full working order
Is there anything you won’t trade as part of a part exchange?
Ultimately, it is down to the manager's discretion. In most cases, we will buy any item that we might normally sell.
We might not buy used software, items that could be unhygienic (e.g. in ear monitors & certain mics), items that are pre registered for use and can’t be used again until they are unregistered, or items that we consider to be too specialist for our customers.
