Access Music Virus Ti2 Polar Synthesizer
Easy to use, includes a thorough manual as well as an excellent tutorial booklet that walks you through how to program in some classic synth sounds on the Virus.
The Virus Control plug-in allows you to edit patches via a computer.
There are over 2000 presets to choose from, with four RAM banks in addition to ROM banks A through S or T. Each bank holds 127 different patches,you could probably get away with using nothing but the presets, but I don't know why anyone would want to.
The quality of presets is excellent.
It's a synth, and a synth that specializes in purely electronic sounds at that. It's one of the best at what it does. Polyphony is flexible depending on complexity of the patches and the use of effects.
In addition to being one of the best virtual analogs on the market, the latest update turns it into a beefed up wavetable synth. It's not a sequencer, it's not a sampler, but in my experience none of those all-in-one synths do any one thing all that well. You can have 16 different patches at once, and you can set distortion, delay, reverb, chorus, flanger and phaser effects per patch.
The keyboard is decent. Total Integration allows you to hook this up to a computer and use it in effect as a plug-in for editting and sequencing purposes. TI also allows you to use it as a MIDI interface.
It has a sound that stands out above every other virtual analog synth out there. When Access designed the Virus, they got the most important elements of the sound - the oscillators and the filters - just right.
Furthermore, the distortion effects on this synth are the best on any keyboard. I would never consider using the onboard distortion for *any* other synth except this.
Access came up with a wide enough range of different distortion models with enough different levels of intensity that it's pretty easy to come up with a nice, warm, biting sound.

Most the sounds are good but there is the odd duffer

This is a digital synth and it does not try to hard to be analog but thats what is great about it. The sounds are fresh and the new effects especially the distortion models produce other worldly sounds straight out of the unit without additional processing. The phaser and reverb are also far ahead of anything you would normally find in the synth.
I have previously owned the Waldorf Q and whilst it the analog filter on that synth was better (silkier) than the one on the Virus I feel that the source Oscillators and Wavetable on the Virus are more interesting. This synth can lower than the Waldorf. Also the effects on the Virus are much better.
The TI integration is fast and rock solid on my Mac Pro with Logic. I still like using the knobs but being able to flick through the presets and effects blocks is very handy as those aspects of the synth are buried in menus.
One more thing is the thousands of presets that are available many of which are made by producers such as the Invovler and Invol2ver two patches. The lack of Moog me too presets is refreshing.
Definitely content with this purchase and its already helping me make music that sounds different to everyone else who is producing on a VST.

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS SYNTH. IT JUST HAS EVERYTHING!
THE POLAR OOZES SEXUALITY! ITS GOT A SOLID METAL CASE THAT COVERS THE ENTIRE SYNTH. THIS IS THEN COVERED IN A BEAUTIFUL WHITE MATT FINISH. THERE IS A WOODEN BEAM UNDER THEY KEYS AND THIS ADDS TO THE CLASSIC EFFECT.
THERE IS AN ACCESS LOGO ON THE BACK OF THE SYNTH THAT FLASHES IN TIMING TO YOUR BPM.
ALL THE TURNING POTS ARE MADE OF A HARD RUBBER. THIS THING IS VERY STRONG!
THESE ARE BY FAR THE BEST SYNTH KEYS I HAVE EVER PLAYED, THEY PLAY WITH A PERFECT ACTION FOR SYNTH BASED MUSIC.
OK NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU GET BLOWN AWAY! THIS SYNTH HAS THE MOST LUSH PADS EVER! I HAVE OWNED A KORG WAVESTATION AND IT DID NOT COME CLOSE TO THE PADS ON THIS SYNTH. THE LEADS AND BASSES ARE ALL TOO FAMILIAR IN HIT SONGS YOU HEAR WORLDWIDE. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LIKE DEPECHE MODE AND DR DRE USE THIS.
I GIVE IT A 10/10 ON ALL SOUND BANKS.
IT HAS THE ABILITY TO IMPORT PATCHES MADE BY SOME OF THE BIGGEST NAMES IN MUSIC.
IT HAS AN ATOMIZER WHICH IS JUST AMAZING FOR REMIXING YOUR TRACKS OR ADDING A MORE CLUB VIBE TO THEM.
IT HAS TI ABILITY MEANING IT SYNCS TO THE SOFTWARE PERFECTLY. IT HAS THE ABILITY TO SWITH TO MONO WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON. THIS CAN BE GREAT WHEN YOUR PLAYING A PAD AND THEN YOU HIT MONO AND MAKE IT MORE DIRECT DURING THE MIDDLE OF A SONG.
WHAT CAN I SAY, ACCESS HAVE DONE IT AGAIN, AND ON THE NEW OS ALL BUGS HAVE BEEN FIXED. THIS SYNTH IS THE BUY OF THE YEAR AND I CAN TELL YOU THERE ARE SYNTHS THAT COST MUCH MORE THAT COULD NOT COMPETE IN ANY GENRE OF MUSIC. THE ACCESS POLAR HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!
