Mackie SRM1801 Active 18" Sub Woofer

Add some low end thunder to your sound for the ultimate live experience on a small budget. The Mackie SRM range represents great value for money, and adding this sub to an existing P.A. rig consisting of only Mid and High drivers could make the difference between sounding like just another amateur gig to sounding like the real deal.

The SRM1801 Sub is designed to be lightweight and portable, and also acts as a base for the Mains (see picture). It has 1000w of power and a precision crossover at 125Hz. Get the most out of your kick and bass guitar without eating up all your headroom and get everyones hearts pumping with the beat!

Here's what Mackie say about the SRM Series 18" Sub

Designed by the same team that produced Mackie's best-selling compact active loudspeakers, the Mackie SRM-1801 subwoofer delivers 1000-watts of room shaking class-D power in a lightweight portable enclosure.  The SRM1801 provides amazingly accurate bass response and is a perfect match for both the Thump and SRM series loudspeakers.  This makes it the ideal complete Active system that fits the needs of an average band, small club, DJ or other SR application.

Features

  • 1000W of ultra-efficient Class-D Fast Recovery amplification
  • Mackie Active electronics provide total system optimization
  • Precision crossover (125Hz)
  • Tuning filters for accurate bass response
  • 18-inch woofer delivers superior output and low-frequency extension (aka Thump)
  • Dual XLR inputs for mono or stereo applications
  • Stereo high-pass and full range outputs
  • User-adjustable level and polarity controls
  • Individual power, signal, OL, and thermal protect indicators
  • Pole receptacle for mounting full-range loudspeakers

My first purchase of an active subwoofer. The Mackie SRM1801 does what it says great low sound that is timed well with other active speakers in the mackie range.

It is a good size but not over heavy at 73 lbs.

Easy to set setup a great buy for the mobile dj.

Purchased two of these to go with a pair of SRM450V2s.

One failed second time out [but replaced and delivered by Andertons within an hour and a half - great customer service!!!]. The 1000W power amp rating stated is misleading - 500W is a truer figure - and, whilst they kick out adequate bottom end for most music, I'd not risk them on loud bass heavy stuff as they seem to overload fairly quickly.

    Integrate well with SRM450 V2s.

Needs two people to lift them comfortably, but have good handles, and are not excessively heavy by the standards of many sub woofers.

Wiring them up as shown in manual does work, but running them from the outputs of the SRM450s does the business.

I'd give them 4 stars if the reliability issue proves to be bad luck rather than a design problem.
